Renewed Resident Evil catch all thread

Requiem feels more like one of the CG movies like Degeneration or Vendetta more then a game. There's room for expansion though as it feels like we've been thrown in the deep end, as in a part of the story following a newbie in the middle of a story.

I'm a little worried it's going to try to be too much psychological horror. Granted I'm basing that mainly on the thumbnail there with the many leg/arm thing coming out of the door, but the point is. That's not really Resident Evil.

The trailer makes me feel this is going to just be a typical horror movie with a 'Resident Evil' skin slapped on. Not what I'm hoping for.

It looks like a neat take on the series. It scales down the action and the stakes, while set in that universe. This isn't someone trying to stop the zombies or rescue someone, it's a dude caught on the edge of the outbreak right as it happens. I think that it could be great, so I am willing to give it a watch.

I'll absolutely be checking it out. Honestly I'm just hoping for something at least decent. The last Resident Evil and Silent Hill movies to come out were not exactly great.

I'm one who likes Resident Evil when it's more action based so that's another reason this isn't hyping me up, but hey I'll wait till I've seen it to pass judgement.

If I can ask one thing though? A Hunter? Please? We've had lickers like a dozen times now. Just ONE Hunter. That's all I ask!

Saw the movie.

To make a long story short, I think if you enjoy horror movies, you'll probably like this for the most part.

I've heard several times the director was trying to make a movie that felt 'Survival Horror' and it definitely has some of that feel.

My worries that it would feel like a different movie with a 'Resident Evil' coat of paint slapped on was sadly pretty dead center in my opinion, but hey yours might vary.

It does however do something that I'm just NOT a fan of, so the end result for me? I did NOT care for it.

This is however coming from someone who is just NOT a horror movie fan. So take that as you will.

Minor grievance, but no Hunters. In fact besides the dog being somewhat like the dogs from RE 5, this just does NOT have any classic creatures. No giant spiders or bugs, no lickers surprisingly, and no anything else really.

This is NOT the T-Virus. It is somewhat similar to the G-Virus, and my friend who played Zero said it's kinda like the leeches from that one, but I ask then why not just USE those in this movie? Instead it is very much it's own virus thing, and hence just feels more like it was another movie that got the RE skin slapped on it last minute.

My biggest issue, and the reason it ended up just tanking my enjoyment of the entire movie. Brian, our MC, gets bitten early on and is slowly mutating. In the end he gets to where the antidote is being made, but NO WE HAVE DO DO THE HORROR MOVIE NONSENSE AND HE DOESN'T GET CURED. He ends up a monster and that's seriously where the credits roll.

The movie gives us this little backstory of him and his girlfriend dealing with her being pregnant, but no nice resolution there. He died. The entire movie you watched was pointless because the character you were rooting for didn't make it.

I know this is a typical horror movie thing, but that doesn't make me HATE that stuff any less. I felt like I wasted my time.

I know I have bad taste when I look at this movie and realize I'd honestly rather watch "Welcome to Racoon City" again then this.

Oh and the Movies with Alice for ME are far superior to this.

My spoiler thoughts are here

But, yes, it's practically another horror movie with Resident Evil's name on it. The ending was a problem for me too. It was a very silly, very fun movie but not Resident Evil.

I bought RE2, 3 and 4 remakes on Switch 2, they work just fine. What you get are the PS4 games running at mostly stable 60fps though there are dips. They have some PC assets but you won't get 4K ray tracing in docked, these are 1080p (upscaled) games. RE4 is the only one of the set that features gyro controls but people say they're broken so I don't bother with them. It would have been nice to have gyro aiming and mouse controls on these versions but what we get is what we get.

I picked them up last month for the PS5 in Amazon's sale day. I am going to try to play them soon before spooky season is over.
