Random Thoughts From Out of Nowhere

So many emotions when you finish a really good book: the part of you that's relieved to finally be at the end of a long journey, the small part of you that's kind of sad it's over, the part of you that's glad you can finally read/watch other people's critiques without fear of spoilers!

So I watched Godzilla and Godzilla Minus One. I watched a few videos on YouTube. Now I'm getting a bunch of Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima recommendations.

I mean, I get the correlation, but c'mon, YouTube! Not everyone who watches Godzilla is looking for a whole history lesson on WWII!

Godzilla was my first big project as a kid. There were enough threads that I could tell these films were connected somehow, but there was absolutely no way to just look up how many films there were and what the order was.

I wonder what it's like for kids who will never have anything like that. If they like something they can look up everything about it immediately instead of wondering about it for 10 years.

I can't remember the last time I've been to the library. I think college. That was so long ago!

Everything's on Kindle now.

My last time was college was well. I tried to check something out but they wouldn't let me because it was too rare or something. I never went back.

Yay, now's the part where I hide for a few hours because I don't have any candy.

Holy cow. More people than I've seen in the last 20 years combined just walked down the street. Even if I had a bag of candy it would be gone now.

Is it not a thing in FL to leave your porch light off if you don't want to participate?

Our street is in the middle of repaving, so I was worried we wouldn't get too many kids. We went through almost 2 big bags (though we told kids to grab multiple candies). I couldn't find any Pokemon Halloween cards specifically for 2025, but we grabbed one from last year and a Squishmallow one. We put a few packs aside for a niece, but all the others were gone. It was a bit too windy and chilly out but we still had a good time with our little fire roasting fancy sausages and s'mores.

It worked tonight, so maybe it is a thing. I was never able to test it before. It's been over 10 years since I heard anyone out there at all. I stopped buying candy because I fell into a financial abyss the last few years, but they had already stopped coming.
