Urban Artifacts was awesome! My only regret was not having enough time to properly browse, but I did give it a quick run-through, and there was so much cool stuff in there!

When Toys Were Toys used to be in a strip mall, but the new location is pretty cool, not as visible from the road though. They're about a block down from the Wheels O' Time museum (which also looks amazing, but we never get there when it's open).

Romney Toy Shop was absolutely my favorite stop, it reminded me of so many places I loved to shop at in my teenage years when I lived in Omaha, NE. (The Brass Armadillo, Meadowlark, and Blue Ribbon Antique Malls, Radial Street Flea Market, and Krypton Comics and Toys, for any Cornhuskers out there) They have so much in that little shop, covering a wide range of eras and interests!

My son has been a total car nut since birth, so we took him to the Wheels of Time museum a few years ago. I had honestly expected to be a bit bored by it, but we actually all really enjoyed it. It's a very neat place!

But yes, the Romney Toy Shop is my favorite type of used toy store. The kind that are jam packed with a million different items covering every possible interest, so full that you can go back a hundred times and never see all of it.

I have tended to wonder why that word is so prominent in descriptions of the syndrome. I'm not sure the specifics of the swirls are that much of a determinant (so it might be more as a descriptor of how the flakes are worked into the mix rather than a breakage indicator).

Like, the crumbling and breakage doesn't necessarily happen along swirl lines, does it? It's not that they break along the direction of a swirl or in a part that specifically has a thicker concentration, necessarily. Or has that just not been tracked?
It's more of a symptom of a certain plastic formulation than the cause of the breaks themselves. Correlation, rather than causality. We have toys with swirls all the time, especially in that light gray they love to use for supposed-to-be-silver parts but it doesn't seem to be a problem in the multitude of toys they use it on. The only other toys I personally have experience with that infuse glitter directly in the plastic are some Bandai Godzilla figures but those are made out of soft vinyl and have maybe 2-4 PoA.

Saw not one not two but THREE YouTubers reviewing this set saying “It’s a shame you can’t store all its accessories on him hurka-durk.🤪” Except, ya CAN, y’all just have no creativity.😂

Okay, not gonna lie: I can live without the Blaster, but not being able to get those cassettes otherwise?

That's slowly killing me.

I maintain that there was a time when NO ONE, not a single soul, complained (at least not to a dealbreaker extent, or with such vitriol) about figure "hollowness". Then video reviews started mentioning it, and a host of other stuff people had gotten along fine with, and suddenly everyone's a connoisseur of increasingly granular features and criteria. And discourse became about parroting opinions and catchphrases from Toy Reviewing Personalities while pretending to be Independent Thinkers (you see, they don't love everything Hasbro craps out). And so it's been for the last decade and a half at least.

I'm sure that's an overgeneralization, and an unfair one considering I'm mostly on here where we don't all share a brain cell and divvy up percentages of an adolescent-level emotional quotient, but I'm content to state it.

Also that headsculpt is still just a shade on the wrong side of Nick Roche expressions, but the rest of that figure is incredibly pretty. I just wish that magenta were less muted. Gimme the damn neon already.

Not gonna lie, this was some bars.✨

I think the more muted goes well with letting the glitter stand out more personally. Having it be neon AND glittery might just be a little too much lol.

I just skip their Articulation segments. It take anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 of the video, maybe more if the toy DARES to have less than 90 degrees bend, or any restriction what so ever, or is lacking articulation because of the transformation. Or it's Cyberworld.

deadass what jivety reviewers are y'all watching that actively complain about the lack of storage? the worst that the ones i watch do is acknowledge that 'yeah just plug all the guns onto the figure's 5 mm ports' can look a bit silly but it is accessory storage (or just put it in a ziploc bag in a drawer and forget that you have those accessories)

Seeing more of the 'short Jazz', I definitely hope we get a repaint/reuse, maybe with a pretender shell or something. It seems so strangely proportioned to just be a single-use stand-alone, there must be some reason behind it...

I happen to have a Pretender Jazz shell, and this new Jazz is SO close to fitting in there. It's maddening.

There are still toy reviewers I check out, but they're almost entirely outside of the Transformers space. Just people who review action figures.

Like even Vangelus and Thew, the big ones everyone swears by, are out of my rotation. Just because of how insular the scene is with everyone parroting each other and circulating the same talking points.

I've also found I enjoy text reviews a lot, if I find someone with an engaging writing style.

ime the worst thing is when i look up a figure and find someone's review of it and i like that review and so i decide to give their other reviews a watch and realize quickly that 'oh...oh this guy's a bit of a highly opinionated prick who thinks his opinions about toys are objectively correct'

I just stick with Dave's text reviews. They're clear, tell me what I want to know faster than someone rambling, and ARE objectively correct in that toys are objects and he gives correct measurements which is handy if I don't have something yet and I'm trying to size a shelf.
