They were likely just thinking of resealing the box after the shoot and let the next owner deal with that as they likely had a lot of items to get pictured and turned into photos and then into the catalog before going to the printers for mass production
Not toy pics, but I wanted to share some Transformers packaging I'd saved without clogging up @lastmaximal's excellent packaging retrospective thread.
The Machine Wars boxart situation always amuses me. With the effort they put into editing Laser Prime into Thunderclash, they could have just commissioned some new packaging art. Or you know, just slap some product photos there.
Honestly that box art just convinces me that MW Prime from one of the Laser Prime moulds wouldn't be half bad.
