I guess I associate spears with being longer than my forearm. Any less than that and it’s just kitchenware.

In my head cannon, someone like Shockwave is unable to keep up with his reserach as he is, thus he cloned himself so that most of the clones can focus on his reserach, while one is off aidding Megatron and governing Cybertron, which is why the war on Cybertron hasn't gone anywhere, not due to the lack of energon but keeping the status quo, enables him to carry on doing his reserach undistrubed and that enabled him to invent Time Travel and Universal travel but he not going to share it with the Decepticons nor the Autobots as it would only get in the way of his reserach!
