Micronus is a great idea but I feel rather let down by the execution. Solo mode is great as far as Micromaster-sized dudes go. Armor mode is a cool addition but the mode itself has a combination of rather stiff articulation and shirt limbs, making him pose better theoretically than in practice. Not much else to offer. Considering the Apex Armor in Prime is the most signifcant appearance, I’d have preferred fists to Dragonzord/King J-der pipe fingers. The wheel attachment things at the back are really annoying. The whole thing looks like it was built in a cave with a box of scraps. The arms and lower body can come off but I dunno, the arms aren’t very convincing weapons and I guess the big ol’ tire is a decent Mad Max shield. Would have liked some more pop-out weapon and a weapon mode for the remaining torso lump. Assault unicycle mode is alright. I’d have preferred this concept to have gone to a bigger size class. It’s very barebones as is.

Also; complete haul from TFCon Chicago!

My MVP WIN from the con was this:

IMG_20251026_193353389.jpg

Have been trying to complete my set of Energon Tech Spec cards and he was one (of 6*) I needed and was one (of 2**) I figured would be stupid expensive to get,

And it was $3.

*Beachcomber, Checkpoint/Prowl, 'Energon' Ironhide, Overcast, and Ultra Magnus

**Overcast being the second one.

Now, can anyone answer me about if the Sam's Club Starscream and Prowl pack included a card(s)!

I agree that the armor tends to get in its own way from time to time, especially the odd iron cross rotor things. I also wish they had another joint so they could be rotated further up in robot mode (maybe they do, I don't have it on hand).

There's a lot that's impressive about the execution, and it being at the price point it is I'm fine with a lot of the sacrifices (I don't feel like paying a higher price point price tag for these tweaks in particular). My main issue is that while I love clear plastic and it's executed well here, I don't like clear plastic joints on such a tiny guy. Wish they'd gone with opaque.

I'd prefer the armor to be Voyager/Leader size. The Apex Armor in Prime was gigantic and the impact of "tiny guy becoming an enormous unit" would be much greater than "tiny guy becomes slightly less tiny." The higher budget would probably allow them to do the weaponizer thing better than the half-assed implementation the current toy does.

I played a gacha machine and won him when I went to pick up my order of those guys. I accidentally left him on the mecha base setup during the first photos and decided that nah, he stays.

He's supposed to be some Japanese wageslave reincarnated as a JRPG slime with unlimited potential blah blah blah. I gave up when they started having hugging corporate meetings in the middle of a story and expecting the audience to go with it.

Now do the rival company: Auto Inc as you just covered Decpti corp!!
Hmm, I'll have to come back to that.

I don't know if Autobots slide as easily/naturally into the corporate world as Decepticons do.

Make of that what you will.

IDW tried REALLY HARD to make the Deceptions analogous to the Russian Bolsheviks/Communists, which you'd think would be anathema to the whole corporate thing... but even then Megatron superfan and Communist Decepticon Manifesto enjoyer Tarn has a comment about how the Decepticon movement's success will depend on the efficiency of their bureaucratic paperwork.
And then you realize what a bureaucratic mess the USSR actually was and it's strangely not such a bad comparison 🤣

All of that being said, I occasionally play around with a Transformers/Office parody in my head centred around a small Autobot team.
Hot Rod is Michael. Cliffjumper is Dwight. Optimus Prime is David Wallace 😛

i’m still a bit disappointed that they decided that Alpha Trion needed a new mold and Vector Prime being a retool when Trion already had the serviceable Scourge retool. This is a pretty good toy, however. He’s pretty posable for an old dude who generally just stands around talking and transformation even gives him an ab crunch. If I’m nitpicking his head is also mounted very far towards his chest. Looks weird when looking at him from the side. He comes with a book and a pen. They get the job done but bafflingly, they didn’t give Trion wrist rotation making it very difficult to put hin in. A writing pose. Would have taken wrists over the opening hands. The shield forms wings for altmode and attaches to his arm. You can make it a cape extension but the shallow peggile means it’ll fall out more often than not.

I bought this sword about a month ago. It’s based on the Titans Return Alpha Trion sword so I gave it to him. That toy was slightly bigger than this one but even then, i’d have to say this is absurdly large. It goes with his shield and younger portrayal I guess. Purple doesn’t match but ehhhh.

altmode is a pentagon. Not bad but not exactly awe-inspiring. I find the blue Plastic a poor color match to the blue pint and in general, the altmode invites comparisons to Scourge. The shield forms the wings and the book and quill peg on the underside.

Legacy Vector Prime was a retool. At this point, I'm betting that AotP Vector Prime is not going to be the package refresh we've been expecting.

First thing, Legacy Vector Prime doesn't have his personal symbol painted on anywhere. It's a seemingly trivial thing, but all of the other Primes have their symbols painted on their artifacts. Even where it has to be so tiny you have to go looking for it, it's there. It's the one thing that's tied them all together thematically. The designers have said that ANY change, even minor deco changes, get treated as being a new release in terms of their internal processes, so even a minor change like that opens him up to substantial changes.

Second, speaking of artifacts, Legacy doesn't include the Blades of Time. Sure, they could just take the name, decide to make his sword the Blade of Time, and leave it at that. But in a line that's focusing on producing all these really obscure artifacts, I'm really skeptical they'll do that here.

Third, like you pointed out, they had a serviceable Alpha Trion mold already and DIDN'T use it. They've really been going all out trying to make all of the Primes pretty special. And judging by how the fandom's reaction has largely switched from disdain about the Thirteen in general upon initial reveal to really positive about the actual toys, I'd say they've succeeded. I doubt one of the best-known members would get the short end of that particular stick.

Fourth, every one of the Primes has been a new, unique mold. And while we can certainly speculate how some of them could be retooled into other characters, none of them have been obvious pretools either. Vector Prime would definitely be the odd one out if they went that route.

So yeah, I expected he would be just a package refresh initially. I even think that might have been the original plan, or at least a contingency option. But at this point? I'd honestly be shocked if he's just a Legacy re-release, and surprised if he's even just a retool. I'm guessing he's going to be a new mold now.

In the Binder, his swords were the Blades of Time. One big and small, in reference to the hands of a clock. All later writers simply failed to realize that.

I'm happy they did a new mold, I would have been seriously hard pressed to justify getting him as a recolour with a new head.
