The 61254 tires are a decent fit for the rear/shoulder wheels. They don't fall off, but they're not snug, and slip loose after rolling a bit. So I may need to try and check if poster tack or floor polish or super glue would help them stay in place. Of course I'm leery about experimenting with even more substance reactions.

Also, the thing is I forgot that the wheels were different sizes. So now I'm trying to find some 50861 tires locally for the front/knee wheels, and also have a handful of the bigger ones I don't need.
For something like this, I’d recommend some scotch tape. It can deform as needed, is removable, thickens more than the liquids and is accessible.Just cut it carefully to keep it concealed.

Thanks to unluckiness' tip, I was able to get the rear/shoulder tires to seat well after a few layers of scotch tape. I may go back and add another layer to Beachcomber, whose testing I kind of rushed.

Even better, I gambled on a cheapo bootleg Lego bike whose description seemed to have measurements that matched the 50861. I say "seemed" because I had no way of knowing whether the numbers referred to the tire or the whole Lego bike. (Logically, they made more sense for the tires, but you can genuinely never tell with these listings.)

"Well, that explains why I couldn't take this out this morning. Remind me to have a talk with Rattrap about what we can and can't barter away for Energon goodies around here."

Happily, as it turns out, these tires are a perfectly snug fit for the front/knee wheels, zero modifications. Putting them on was a joy after the slight disappointment of the previous pair.

I don't think Lego type equivalents have been found for Sandstorm (and his tires are reportedly much harder to remove anyway). Legacy G1 Op/Magnus I think I saw a post and part number for, but I haven't gotten around to those yet. Wanted to see this pair through first, and so far so good. Ordering another bike for just its tires, now. Although idk what I'll do with what will be two awkwardly-sized bikes missing their tires, afterward.

I mean, something in me is healed a little bit by seeing... this, but it's undercut somewhat by Gigastorm's new whip not having any tires.

Of course, the silly thing about all this is that since I don't have access to a legitimate source for ordering official Lego parts, all of these are bootlegs from who knows where and might have similar plasticizer problems anyway. And even the legit ones might not be all that different in composition, and it's too soon to really tell. But it was a cheap and easy enough experiment that it seemed worthwhile; I could at least feel that I tried something.

A small bonus is that the plastic used in scotch tape is highly resistant to plasticizer. In theory at least, my organic chemistry’s not the best and I dunno if the tape or plasticizers have changed formulas since I took the courses.

Traveling for work, stopped by a great toy store in a tiny Indiana town. Bought too many robots, including a Titans Return Clobber who I passed up repeatedly when he was at retail only to regret it later. It was great to find a very reasonably priced one. They cost too much on ebay for me to justify.

That is an awesome find! What is that Fitor? It's not a transforming version, is it?

Incidentally, this tiny Indiana town wouldn't happen to be near interstates 74 or 70, would it? That's the route we travel to visit the inlaws in Ohio, and I don't mind taking a small scenic detour...

I'm not sure what this Fitor is. He's a one-piece, blow-molded, rubber sort of thing with a small hole in the bottom.

The store is the Romney Toy Shop in Romney, Indiana. If you go 15 minutes north of where 74 goes through Crawfordsville, you'll hit it. it's right on the highway. There's a small Transformers/Gobots section, but make sure to ask for more, because he's got 2 boxes of additional Transformers as well with a ton of very reasonably priced Classics era figures including some Botcon exclusives (which were reasonably priced compared to the going rates, but still a little too high for me). All manner of things beyond robutts to be had there as well

I'm excited to see Super Spay-C. Found them at a flea market, slightly broken (the screw on one of the legs was gone, but it could still hold togeather to stand in Robot mode) I really liked them though I didn't know what their name was until like High School when i discovered resource pages, so as a Kid I just called him Launchpad. It was weird to me that it was supposed to be the same character as regular Spay-C as they look nothing alike. And Super Spay-C imo is one of the better Shuttle Robots of the 80s.

It's my first time with the mold, but I've always thought it looked like a great toy. It definitely does not disappoint.
Given the similarities in transformation and robot modes, you could easily convince me that Super Gobot Spay-C is G1 Armada Jetfire.

Thank you! That is so close to our usual route, I think the next trip out we will have to check it out! Just have to time the stops right to catch them when they are open.

I visit a lot of automotive plants for work. There's a Subaru plant and a GM plant that you can't get to via interstate from central Illinois, so you have to wind around through some state highways, one of which passes through downtown Romney (a processthat takes roughly 30 seconds). This toy shop is basically the only business you see, but you can't miss it, either. I just happened across it long ago when heading that way. Hadn't had to come this way in many years, so I wasn't sure if it would still be here, but happily it was and much fuller than it had been before.
