"A-Are you sure about this, Thundercracker?"
"Trust me! You'll be out of this world, Screamer!"

I'm really impressed at how they made TF1 Thundercracker feel different from Starscream without really making him feel any less like a guy best known for looking exactly like Starscream. I really hope we also get a Skywarp version at some point.

For some reason the shades make it pretty tempting. But what I'm really hoping for is for them to get past the usual Seeker colors. Do a Skywarp to round these out, then get into the further reaches and surprise us, similar to how randomly the green Bumblebee movie Thrust showed up. The concept art had a Red Wing and a Wingstun-ish green one, but I'm sure there's more that can be played with. Make the Welcoming Committee out of these or something.

But not Sunstorm. That's for the Earthrise mold.

It's out ?! I must have that Kiss Players Rodimus. And perhaps paint at least the engines/pipes silver. Odd choice to go with a blah gray on all those parts.

(Also, a yellow windshield might have been nicely evocative of the G1 spoiler as well as suggestive of chest flames in robot mode. But it'd probably take away from how cohesive the red/white car is, and neither is really crucial for the KP look.)

(I can't believe I might be able to get a wholly unintentional and unexpected spiritual successor before finding another copy of Shaoshao. Should have never sold the figurine.)

Beautiful shots! Can't wait to get mine. I love it when when we get Transformers that are specific vehicle types while also being incredibly mundane. Pizza delivery van. Radio station mobile unit. Those are just great. We need more of those.
Thanks! And I agree. These guys are delightful. A "nostalgically 80s" IP like Stranger Things works great for Transformers because you have have these mundane things as Transformers while still being "on brand."

Vehicon Special Forces

Airachnid is the Special Forces commander.

Aerial Escorts for Vehicon landing parties. These utilize the APC miner head to give them a unique look from the standard Jet Vehicons.

Vehicon Shock troopers. I utilized the Nonnef Zombie Vehicon heads and took out the long mouth tentacle and replaced it with a 3D printed grill. I also equipped them with TFP Deluxe Airachnid's weapon.
The BotCon Pirate Squad in the back is Airachnid's Elite kill squad.

Liege Maximo is a dude who showed up on the last page of a cancelled comic a million years ago and looks more like something Godzilla would fight than a transformer. Later series decided to just make him robo-Tom Hiddleston. A million years of nothing later, they finally decide to make a toy of the ancient basically unused design because that’s how the toy market works nowadays baby. Was it worth the wait?

Altmode first because honestly nobody cares. Not bad at all considering the OG design was clearly not created with transformation in mind. It’s a somewhat organic spaceship with a nose gun. The large horns can rotate, the smaller horns can slightly change angle and the thrusters up back have 5mm ports for thruster effects. Not much in the way of functionality but if you like the aesthetic it’s a okay in the way most of the Thirteen have nonsense altmodes. Personally, it looks like the lovechild of Perfect Cell and one of the ships in The Avengers.

Who wouldn’t trust a face like that?

Transformation is conceptually simple, being little more than hiding his head and making him touch his toes but there are two points of mild frustration. First is the silver horn having to thread through a hole in his chestplate and second is the vehicle mode shells on the sides of his shins needing to move in specific steps. Nothing too bad though. The result is a hulking beast of a robot who could probably stand in for onslaught or Apocalypse or something. Sculpting and paint detail is amazing with the tiny wire textures picked out in metallic electric blue. They say that Liege Maximo is notorious for being a trickster and liar but I counter that assertion with the fact that just look at him. Does that look like the face you would trust in any way or more importantly, someone who needs trickery to get what he wants? His headsculpt is okay but I can't make heads or tails of what’s supposed to be his mouth. That said he’s designed to loom in shadow first and foremost so details aren’t as important I guess. He apparently goes to the same barber Polpo from Jojo Golden Wind does.

Articulation is basically standard with the only standouts being the thumbs and the shoulder pads. More on those later. Of note is that the smaller horns, tips of the larger horns, head and shoulderpads are all soft plastic. This may be a problem down the line. Why all these had to be soft plastic but the pieces with three spikes on the front of the altmode/shins get to be hard plastic is anybody’s guess. More immediately, the shoulder pads are detachable but a little too detachable. They like to fall off with any movement which you’ll need to do so a lot because they block nearly all arm articulation otherwise. I’d recommend gluing or floor polishing them in place. Floor polish did the trick for me and they now stay on very well.

you can flip in his left arm to reveal a hand laser. It’s a nice touch I guess albeit a little stubby. Port’s kind of big to take blast effects but for a reason. Now that I think about it, this dude is a few bright primary colors and a few random crystalline orbs away from being something X beats up in the Sigma stages.
IMG_6047.jpeg

Dude comes with a missile launcher and three missile things. They’re supposedly based on a cover to a fanwork or something but they sure do look like they should be in a different kind of toy store. Anyway, they plug in welland he can hold the gun in his hands or into his left arm blaster. Looks kind of goofily long though. Pardon the lack of handheld missile launcher. I forgor.
IMG_6049.jpeg

His last feature is to sit on things. He can tuck in his heel spurs, shift his thumbs and remove the gigantic back horns to fit on the throne that came witb DCS Megs and SS86 Coronation Starscream. I don’t have either so here he is in Deathsaurus’ chair. Fits him well and because it was designed for a much bigger toy with a backpack, the back horns even fit. Ignore the G1 Decepticon logo though, he just repo’d this chair. I’ll probably look into acquiring something for him to sit in.

Overall, he’s a pretty good toy. He’s simple for a leader class toy but makes use of the budget in sheer bulk and presence. The designers definitely had a list of features when it came to making him and hit all of the bulletpoints. It’s just a but of a shame that the most effort was dedicated to making him sit down.

I wanna see what happens when X copies his power with the Variable Weapons System.

And then charges it.

Obviously not this X, of course. He needs an upgrade to do that.

Well, I'm still waiting, cuz they didn't do it right.

You may be waiting until the 40th anniversary of the 40th anniversary. It's not perfect, but I don't see this character and this specific design getting a redo in any reasonable timeframe.

Because he's not a robo-furry humanoid robot animal, that means he's a fortress boss or a X Hunter thing and you don't get weapons from either.

That's a very arresting robot mode, what a presence.

The main thing keeping me from getting it (I mean aside from the obvious) is the soft plastic. I am currently pretty done with that stuff.

Is he a plant? X has copied from those, too.

I think he looks kinda like a plant.
