Went to a game store I haven't been to in a hot minute, and they rearranged things, and had shelves with loose toys. Two of them were Transformers, mostly Studio Series and random pieces of Ultimate X-Spanse, but did find these:

Cliffjumper was like the only one complete and Ken's Tran-Sector wasn't around. So $3.99 for Cliffy-J and they just let me have Ken.

Then last night, I pulled these off the bookshelf and washed off years of dust off them.

I don't have the chains, so of course no one is ever going to want them, so when I remember I'll just yeet them into the rubbish bin.

If you're serious about throwing those away, I would be interested in making a deal for them...

A surprisingly good Megatron toy that seemingly came outta nowhere! The feet are fckass-weird Terryfold-flap-ass-looking things and the hands have articulated wrists but are tucked into armor plating which is kind of a bummer, but I really love the tank mode detailing in between the front part of the treads that harkens back to the ROTF movie Megs design of having the robot head fold up underneath some greeblies.

Overall really good. Transformation is so clean and satisfying. Complex enough to be fun, but simple enough to be efficient. Absolutely no fiddle factor. Which I love so much and is so rare to find in a Megatron toy.

The joints are nice and tight and the full range of modern poseability is there, including soft ratcheted feet for some extra stability. QC is excellent. Felt like a lot more work went into making this random Megatron a hit than versions of Megatron that have actually appeared in various media.

Did some more paintwork on Big Convoy. Painted the ugly flap of kibble on the front of the cannon with some gunmetal and I think it turned out nicely. May just do all the other kibble but in truth, this toy hides the inner side of the kibble panels much better than the original, so it might not be worth the effort. Did the mammoth feet cannons while the metallics were out too. Too bad the kibble's too big and keeps hitting other kibble because hip cannons are cool.

Matrix pic. I forgot to do this last time I had my setup out. Wish the middle were clear red.

Painted the mammoth feet and the end of the trunk in a lighter, fleshier brown. Since this fish light hates subtlety, I think it shows up better under my normal fluorescent lighting. In general, after getting into Godzilla figures, I find that the beast figures end up looking fake and plastick-y, and not just because they have robot parts sticking out of their nether regions. Yeah, Godzilla doesn't have two modes to budget paint for, but the glossy plastics really hurt the excellent organic sculpting. Eh, whatever, I'll fix it myself.

Not to toot my own trunk but yeah this looks better. Actually doing it showed me why they couldn’t do it out of the factory. Took like six different paint colors, a couple hours and several trial and error sessions to get this done. Would probably skyrocket toy prices when most people are going to leave him in robot mode anyway. Still need to get around to the other brown blob back there.

Yeah the mammoth feet cannons really needed that visual cue. That adds a lot. But for me the real night -and-day improvement is still the simple matte finish tempering the gloss on the fur.

The mammoth feet aren't actually cannons. They're rocket boosters.

At least, that's what they were in the cartoon.

Do you know what the difference between a cannon and a rocket booster is?

Desperation.

Dammit, it would appear that the old Dr. McNinja comic is no longer online. There was a page where the good Doctor was reminiscing about a super-team he was on as a youth. The leader was a guy that had rocket boots that were 100% used for kicking people with added fire damage.

I got Big Convoy in the other day and he currently right in front of me, he pretty good, my only complaints would be the beast mode head, it doesn't look quite right spilt upon the back of the robot mode and the front legs/rockets/guns as those get in the way a bit when trying to store the cannon on his back, of course that connector is a bit of a pain to move, thou I think his chest should of been a bit bigger to get that cannon on him, but overall he is pretty good! Looking at the rear of him, I think the original plan was for him to have a extra flap around the tail to cover up that area more but then it got ditched to save on costs
