Now eventually you are going to have a Comic Book thread on this Comic Book forum, right?

This is not.

Unless I missed something, my writing is only in Mega Man Legends Timelines #1, which caps off the series of one-shots and comes out in September.

But hey, thanks for bringing it up!

Ah, my mistake. I wasn't sure if this FCBD issue included a few pages from all the upcoming one-shots or not.

Speaking of Free Comic Book Day last week I got the comics that I ordered for my library.

Good to hear that it worked out! I hope the event goes smoothly for you!

I won't be giving the comics out on Free Comic Book Day. I'm saving them for a mini-convention we are doing later in May.

Nope! In fact, it's wholly unique content from what's to follow, from what I understand. =)

I was out of town but my friend got me a Megaman FCBD. Won't get it until next weekend though.

Met my friend and I got the Megaman fcbd issue plus, Star Wars Kids, Kagurabachi and Issak.

So what's up with the Megaman #0? From the title alone, (Almost Had 'Im) I knew it was going to be a take on the Batman Tas episode.

So has three bots in the food making business? Why not the Robotmasters from game 5? Weren't they carnival related entertainment bots? Though I'm sure the file disc's with info would point out that Coldman, Windman and Skullman are into cooking, sorta.

Windman, uh, he makes ramen bowls cuz of his head design? And was Megaman being green a mistake on the last panel? I looked it up and his weakness was Centaur Flash, which is an area effect and not a blast. Since Megaman didn't do any weapon gets during the comic, I'll assume it was meant to be a regular or charged buster shot the colorist thought they were using a weakness chain thing and colored Megaman wrong in green, thinking he was doing Centaur Flash.

I hate the idea that robots eat so Coldman and Megaman eating isn't good for me.

Skullman should be in Russia or something, right? Anyhow, weren't there four Sniper Joe's? It did look like Megaman shot the microphone one but seemed kinda awkward. Skullman was left functional cuz he fell in balls? Weird.

So the ending implies that Megaman made friends with them. But that only worked for Coldman. Skullman, I could buy that it made him realize that siblings are friends. But Windman's story doesn't follow the theme. It didn't even say if throwing food at him made him want to cook or something. I thought that was awkward storytelling.

At least a menacing Bounceman is shown, hehe.

Also, which parts were drawn by Andrew Dickman? I know his name from Rockman Neo animation, which I thought was really cool when I first saw it. Nice that he's drawing a Megaman comic.

Just in Ariga's Megamix. And I think they were repurposed there after their initial attempt at Mega Man failed in MM5.

Wind Man is noted as a good cook.

Closest Cold Man has is "Frappetino" as a "Like" in the English version ("Shaved Ice" in Japan), while Skull Man only references "bad taste" as a bad point.

Holy cow, the Ariga Manga saying that the mega 5 robotmasters are carnival workers isn't a game story? Dang, I thought it was. My bad.

Yeah, I remember info overload in Megaman and Bass with all the likes and dislikes of the Robotmasters.

Oooo, the Rockman OVAs! I don't remember him eating there, haha

Read the other freebies.

Both Manga and their second stories are previews so not complete stories. I'm behind on Boruto by a hundred eps by now so I don't know what's up.

Kid Star Wars was ok but how do bring evidence of something that connects? Also I never got how to whistle with a leaf.

The adventures of Momo and Appa were different. Even if you know what's up, the fight result was still cool for me, haha

I have been absolutely loving DC's Absolute Universe. It's really gotten me back into reading comics regularly. The new takes on the classic characters have been a lot of fun, so I've really been enjoying them.

My rankings of each of the six ongoing runs:
1. Absolute Wonder Woman
2. Absolute Martian Manhunter
3. Absolute Flash
4. Absolute Batman
5. Absolute Superman
6. Absolute Green Lantern

Yeah, I'm actually a little surprised by how solid all the Absolute books have turned out. The only real criticism I have is that this doesn't really feel like a universe that Darkseid created from the ground up, more like one he might have "infected" with his influence. But, then again...that'd just be Earth-3 or the Anti-matter Universe. All the books we've gotten have been worth checking out on their own merits, though.

My personal ranking is:

1. Absolute Wonder Woman-Agreed. This is probably my favorite of all of them. A great twist on the concept of the character, while still managing to keep the feel of the character. And the last two issues have had AMAZING art. Loving the mythology. Loving Diana's relationship with her adoptive mom. Loving the new takes on the Greek Gods and monsters and magic. This is just a good book.

2. Absolute Superman-This has been a slower burn, but it's actually grown into something surprisingly good. It didn't have the best beginning, but it's been getting better with every issue. It's a interesting alternate take on Superman. A bit more "activist", like Grant Morrison's New 52 run, with a bit more of a sci-fi focus.

3. Absolute Martian Manhunter-This is a very interesting book with a lot of high concepts. My biggest problem is that this doesn't really feel like a "ongoing", to me. This feels like something that really should have a planned ending. A 12 issue miniseries, perhaps. But, I do like some of the ideas this book is exploring. It feels very "Vertigo" in a good way. It kind of reminds me of Shade the Changing Man.

4. Absolute Green Lantern-I'm a big sucker for space stories. And I'm a big fan of Green Lantern. So, this was always going to appeal to me. But, Al Ewing seems to be crafting a interesting alternate take on possibly the entire idea of the Emotional Spectrum. Everything feels a bit more alien and weird, here. We're in the early days, so I could see this climbing up the ranks, as we see more of what's going on and uncover a bit more of this mystery.

5. Absolute Flash-I like this. But, I'm waiting to see where it goes. Being a bit more of a time-travel story is a interesting direction that I didn't expect.

6. Absolute Batman-It's Batman. I'll admit, I'm just not the biggest Batman fan. But, this is a good twist, with old villains actually being old friends in this world. Definitely still worth reading. It's just that I find all the other books more interesting.

If you like these, you might want to check out Marvel's new Ultimate line, too. It's doing similar things with the Marvel characters. The Absolute and Ultimate lines have both been refreshingly unique. Even if both of their "overarching" stories feel like their weakest aspect, to me, at least.

I will say, this last Brainiac issue was fascinating. So far, my biggest issue is that its been hard to really care about Lazarus Corp or the conflict with them, but maybe having Brainiac as the face of Lazarus moving forward will get me more invested.

Unless I'm mistaken, Absolute Martian Manhunter is actually slated to be a 12-issue miniseries. But yeah, I agree that that's a better format for the story. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to a continuation where he continues to tackle different alien cases, sort of like a Men in Black detective.

I've had it recommended to me, and I've been meaning to check them out. I know the Spider-Man run is especially well-liked.

I think Lazarus works well enough as a Orwellian "Big Brother" type menace for these early issues. This book has a certain political-commentary bent to it, so I'm okay with it being more about the "metaphor", as it were. I am glad we're slowly building up other, more personal threats, as the book goes on. But, having a vague, faceless government entity as the villain of the book works with what the book is trying to do, I think. Especially given how Krypton's death went in this universe.

*Googles quick*

Huh. You're right. It is a 12 issue mini. I could have sworn I heard that it was a ongoing. My mistake.

And yeah, other sequels might be fun. Maybe even visiting "space" or the "psychic realm", depending on where the book ends up going.

Ultimate Spider-Man is probably the best book out of the bunch. A lot of heart and a lot of good ideas. Kind of a slow burn, but all the Ultimate books are slow burns. It does kind of feel like everyone's waiting for the "timer" to run out. Because we have been promised a big event in around a year.

I would also recommend The Ultimates. That's also by Deniz Camp, who's writing Absolute Martian Manhunter. If you're digging one, chances are you'll dig the other. I, personally, think Absolute Martian Manhunter is the better of the two, but Ultimates is a solid book that's helping to build up the new Ultimate universe. And it does go into more..."politically minded" territory with some of it's metaphors and subject matter.

And one more recommendation. If you're liking the slightly darker, slightly deeper storytelling, I highly recommend checking out The Power Fantasy by Kieron Gillen. It's good stuff, and honestly one of the best books on the stands. I think you'd enjoy it. It's a indie book, so it probably could use all the sales it can get.

While I'm not familiar with this title, I've read and enjoyed some of Kieron Gillen's work in Star Wars, so I may just have to check that out.

I'm personally a big fan of long, overarching storylines that aren't afraid to leave the "status quo" behind. Invincible is my all-time favorite comic run for this very reason. The plot moves forward, the character grow and change, and consequences can be permanent. I typically prefer this to Marvel and DC's usual "status quo," where characters change and grow very infrequently.

I think you'd like The Power Fantasy then. If you've never read it, Die by Kieron Gillen is also definitely worth a read. Especially if you like fantasy or tabletop gaming. It's already over, so you might be able to find a deal on it, if you look around.

Birthright by Joshua Williamson might also be worth checking out. It's a darker take on the "child gets whisked away to a fantasy world" type story.

But, I might be overwhelming you with recommendations. These are just some titles I've enjoyed over the years.
