Nobody has the intention to invade Ukraine

Sounds like Russia's military-industrial complex has basically completely taken over the economy over there and is now another roadblock to try to work around besides whatever ambitions Putin has.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

If russia starts WW3, it lasts about two weeks, including the time it takes to rally the world against them.

Depends if there's still anyone reasonable enough to keep Trump's tiny hands off the nuke codes. He's stupid and impulsive enough to think it's a good idea.

No.

The incentive is to NOT use nukes, no matter the propaganda. No one can rule over an airless radioactive rock, and no one wants to claim territory that isn't useable. Russia won't start world war 3 because it will 1.) expose how poorly prepared, equipped and maintained they actually are, 2.) they know they will lose. I mean, everyone loses, russia will lose the most because it will be impossible to hide who started it.

As it stands, russia wants a ground war only because putin is a fuckwit intent on things he cannot, will not have.

Yeah, trump is a problem with nukes (because he's obsessed with power he's too stupid to understand.), but it would also be against russia: his owner. He won't be participating. And if he is, it'll be FOR russia, and his regime is incompetent anyway.

Besides, everyone is watching the pentagon right now: the second another high up get bounced and it hits the media it was because he refused to launch nukes on trumps order: the world will be screaming for vonschitsinpants head.

While you aren't underestimating trumps stupidity and incompetence: you are underestimating the rest of the world. I know you don't get to really see it from inside the US, but the rest of us are out here trying to reinforce stability.

UN agency says Russian strikes killed at least 265 civilians in Ukraine in June.

WASHINGTON, July 9 (Reuters) - Russian strikes killed at least 265 civilians in Ukraine and injured 1,816 in June, the highest combined casualty count since the first months after Moscow's full-scale invasion ‌in February 2022, a top U.N. official told the Security Council on Thursday.

U.N. political affairs chief Rosemary DiCarlo said the number of civilians killed and injured in Ukraine in May had been the highest since April 2022, but data from the U.N.'s Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) pointed to an even higher toll in June, and possibly July.

Final data for June will be released in late July, a U.N. spokesperson said...

Musk getting revenge for the drop in traffic to Twitter after the datacenter strikes? Though it looks like the Russian troll traffic drop was just a coincidence or misreading of data per The Guardian:

Though TBF yandex is also more than a search engine, so it may have had some effect regardless:

It's much more than a jivety search engine. They are essentially a digital extension of our government, one of the two. A huge part of our websites went down due to being hosted and/or operated on yandex infra. They monopolized taxi and food delivery in many cities, are one of the two major digital map providers, are building another worthless messaging app, host the only useful cloud storage in russia, operate a sovereign youtube surrogate (yt is banned here), and a crappy clone of every other google cloud suite product.
Their services are used by basically every organization (since most of western alternatives are banned or illegal).

People like me, that are not reliant on their services, lost nothing. In fact, this will make more people aware that their jive is NOT safe when it's all managed by a single tech corp.

So it might not have been bots, but actual people doing the posts who lost their internet access from this.

You are wrong. I did the math and literally thousands of trolls harassing young female Finnish politicians on Facebook all disappeared at once, at the same time, coinciding with the Yandex explosion. For most profiles I’ve taken reports of numbers dropping at face value, but because of your post and others miming it, I went and did the math. There’s a more than 90 % drop on hateful reactions and comments on the first three profiles I came across that the algorithm recommended to me. I’ve been following the troll traffic on young female politicians’ FB pages for two years now because I fear fascists are trying to influence the next Finnish parliamentary elections by making young women especially too scared to show up. Stories which gaslight and underplay real experiences on mass harrassment have come out in Finnish as a result of comments such as this so I actually find this comment somewhat harmful and as badly sourced as half on the original story. Thankfully I have eyes and a brain and I can check these stats myself on Facebook, and seems at least one user here agrees with my observations.

If it's not bots, it implies that Russia employs a sizable army of professional trolls. How many would it take to account for 90% of all assholes on the entire internet? Probably like the whole country.

Either way, between this and the fact that our part of the internet is all blocked there anyway, this just supports my proposal to forcibly sever Russia from the civilized world's internet entirely.

Why?

It can’t cost much and has indisputably hugged over the US (Trump x2) the UK (Brexit) and not insignificant portions of Europe (AfD and so on)

Pound for pound it’s probably the most successful series of attacks of the 21st Century.
