Nobody has the intention to invade Ukraine

This is actually a clever deal. Russia probably isn't going to attack our mining operations, so that halts their expansion into Ukraine. More so than it already was halted by their ineptitude. So Zelensky gets some security out of this, just not in the form he wanted it. But this form also gives Putin assurance that we're not putting assets there to start trouble. Trump does actually want the minerals. Selfishly, sure. It's exploiting Ukraine for our profit, sure. But that's a motive Putin can trust. Trump does want the minerals. So we're not going to do anything that leads to our mining operations getting blown up in a counterattack.

Of course. Putin does not want peace. And he will not settle for anything other than complete capitulation. Even with his puppet in the White House, though, he doesn't have the pull to demand it. And so we're going to play this game for the next few years.

Some Range Restrictions on Ukraine Removed: German Chancellor

Germany’s new Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Monday that range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine by some nations will no longer be in place.

“There are no longer any range restrictions for weapons that have been delivered to Ukraine,” he told a forum. “Neither by the British, nor by the French, nor by us, and not by the Americans either.”

“That means Ukraine can also defend itself by, for example, attacking military positions in Russia. Until a while ago, it couldn’t. … It can now. We call this ‘long-range fire’ in jargon, also supplying Ukraine with weapons that attack military targets in the hinterland,” he said.

The Chancellor did not provide any additional clarifying details.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the move would be “quite dangerous” and “run contrary to our efforts to reach a political settlement.”

Welp....no wonder Trump is talking about Putin.

Ironbite-he's trying to position himself as not on Putin's side.

Frankly, I really wish I had the power to just pluck all these authoritarian assholes out of their mansions and palaces and throw them all on the same deserted island in the middle of the Pacific and let them just deal with each other while the rest of the world moves on.... Putin needed to be deposed 20 years ago, really hate that we are still having to deal with him. The world is a much worse place for it. At least the pretext is gone now. We always knew he wanted all of Ukraine. He was never going to just settle for the Donbas and Crimea.

1.) the majority of the russian nuclear arsenal isn't fit for use, neither are their delivery vehicles. While they could duct tape something together to get the bomb somewhere, you can't exactly jerry rig a nuclear device and get predictable results. Especially when dealing with the russian military.

2.) putin will not nuke land he wants to take. That would be the height of stupidity.

3.) putin will not nuke land next to land he owns. That's 1 step down from the height of stupidity.

4.) Russia is no where near the point of "If I can't have it, no one can".

Putin is reminding the word that russia is in fact a nuclear power, and maybe stupid enough to try something. But amazingly: they aren't. If so much as a dirty bomb is used that can be even remotely traced back to russia: russia stops being a country in a week; they are obviously too unstable and dangerous to allow to continue existing without oversight. This is an excuse to escalate his war under conventional means: and it'll be about as successful as ALL THE OTHER TIMES he's escalated his war using conventional means.

How soon till Putin finally gets to the old 'if I can't have the world, no one can' chestnut? I mean, the only reason he's still got anything in the tank is that his puppet got into the Oval Office. That won't last forever and while Trump is his perfect puppet, no one waiting in the wings will bend the knee like TACO.

Your guess is as good as mine. One bad medical diagnosis, maybe? Or the day wagner group decides to finish what they started cause putin has lost too much face on a war he can't win?

The day russian OSHA puts window safety bars on anything over the second floor?
