You can also do expeditions now using an existing save... you only get to bring across a few things, but when you finish you can bring some stuff back to whatever save you started it from, and everything else gets turned into raw currency that also feeds back into that save. And there's a "Bug Hunt" expedition coming, though they haven't said when it will start yet. Could be tomorrow, with the Twitch Drops, could be Tuesday after they're over.

Yes, but so much has been added since the last time I rolled a new standard game that I'm tempted to start fresh.

Looks like world's part 2 just dropped and it's a big one. Lots of quality of life updates as well including inventory sorting, cold storage for up to 18 ships and a weapon rack to store up to 28 multi tools.

Apparently I never finished the autophage quest line on my main save. Could have sworn I did. Gotta get that done so I can start the quest to get the blueprint of the hyperdrive that lets you go to the new purple star systems.

Found my first ocean planet today. Man is the water deep on those and it had cool bio-luminescent algae that would activate as ships flew over it. I gotta do some upgrades to the Nautilus before I really start exploring it, though. (also gotta remember to start taking screenshots...) New expedition start next week as well.

I actually had screenshots from a base of mine that used to have lighting issues so I can almost 1:1 show the improved base lighting:

Nighttime shots look so much better with the new water.

New update adds a larger ship type you can build and edit, WITH WORKING INTERIOR that's also fully customizable. You can carry other players in it too. You can also do actual EVA now without fighting to keep your life support full, including parking this thing and doing some skydiving or orbital diving from it.

Started messing with it and built my first corvette. No name for it yet, and it's built fully from stock parts outside of a couple of reactors and a shield gen I salvaged. Not a big ship, but she's mine(3 habitation modules). Not sure what I want to call her yet. I do want to salvage some more bits, hopefully find some better engines and thrusters. Maybe add a second deck as well.

Few warnings. When you first create a corvette and build it out it will trade in whatever ship you are currently flying, so be sure to go to the station in a ship you don't mind junking. I lost my Starborn Runner because of that.... Also don't sit on couches or chairs you put in your ship. You end up moving downward constantly and will clip through any object below you.

Fired up a creative save just to mess around without having to scavenge parts and decided to create a mini version of a Federation starship(I wanted to make a large shuttle or a runabout but couldn't figure out how to get the nacelles underneath the main hull, they always wanted to go UP so decided to go with the traditional saucer, secondary hull design). I do need to add some lights and figure out how to make the bussard collectors glow and I think I should have tried to go with a 5x5 saucer. Maybe when I get home from work today.
