Nightwatcher 7 is out today. I don't know if it's the end of the series or just the end of this arc. From the way it ends, I'm thinking it's the end of the series and Jennika can now return to the TMNT fold, because I certainly don't see her continuing to use the Nightwatcher persona.

Yup, #7 is probably the last issue of the Nightwatcher series. Unless they decide to bring it back in a few months. But, if they do, they'll probably just put out a "Nightwatcher 2" miniseries so they can get a new #1, like they did with the Jennika minis.

It was a solid book. I enjoyed it. But, I'm not too surprised that it's relatively short-lived. It was fun while it lasted, but having 3 to 7 Turtles comics (depending on what you want to count) all going at the same time was...ambitious.

Yeah, I was only collection this and the main TMNT series. I just can't afford to get every single series that comes out. But to be fair, I don't think IDW has too much else going on that's profitable aside from Sonic.

TMNT 8 is out todsy. It's fairly Leocentric, but with some big moments for Donny. I think Karai has something cooking. I just hope something pops soon, because honestly, this is such a slow build that individual issues start feeling like we're going nowhere.

Got this from Amazon today.

Look, I'm not a rebel or anything, and I don't want to seem petulant. But I didn't spend $50 on this set not to open it. I don't care what the box says.

Front of the inside box.

And the back.

IMG_3601.jpeg

Super Shredder and Foot Soldier in package.

IMG_3602.jpeg

Rahzar and Tokka in package.

IMG_3603.jpeg

Everyone outside their package with their respective accessories.

IMG_3604.jpeg

Left was bought on E-Bay. Center is the one that just came today in the set. Right with the missing greaves I bought at a local vintage toy store. I'm not sure if it comes through in the picture well, but vintage ones have more of a silver colored clothing pieces while the new one I got today is more grey.

IMG_3605.jpeg

The on the far left is the one that came with the set. Note the dark color on the armor pieces, green loin cloth and the painted toe claws. In the middle is a reissue I bought at Target a few weeks ago. Note the silver armor pieces, black loin cloth and non-colored toe claws.

IMG_3606.jpeg

This is the main reason I bought the set. Target wasn't getting any of the movie characters in besides Rahzar and the occasional turtle. The only way I could get Tokka from Amazon was to get the entire set. Much better than the pea-soup green of the NECA version.

In fairness, the NECA version was made to emulate the cartoon, which emulated the toy specifically, which was made to resemble the movie version about as well as that toy line was able to resemble anything, which was generally "not at all."

Sort of like how Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 3 looked way different from each other, but still shared the same toys for everything, I guess.

Oh, I understand the reasoning. It's just that ever since watching the Exorcist, I can't see pea soup green without immediately associating it with projectile vomiting.

Now let's see them make a toy of 2012 Tokka.

In scale!

I found this at Target today.

I'm not quite sure why they included the Utrom, but hey, free Utrom!

She seems to be a bit disgruntaled with her former employer. I don't know, something about turning psychotic and sending a murderous death machine after her to kill her? Women, am I right? Just can't figure them.

Got to be honest, I completely forgot I had this other one.

I'm finally just watching Tales of the TMNT. Just saw the first two eps.

From the titles, I guess each ep is split to a turtle each. Leo actually did worse that Mikey vs his robot. I guess swords are less effective against metal if the blade can't pierce (until the end part). Plus Leo had help from April with the water.

Mikey beat his bot solo, but, yeah, maybe bludgeoning type weapons are better for battering armor? He disarmed the bot too.

Mikey was highly irresponsible with the blood tho, geez. What the hex did he inject the intern Rod with (future Mutagen Man?)?

And he created Pigeon Pete?!?!?! Why even use Pidgeon Pete? Granted they used up a ton of mutants for the movie that familiar mutants would be slim pickings (Even Wingnut was used already in the movie and he's she's pretty rare. Maybe could have used toy characters like Half Court or the fire fighter dalmatian or I don't know).

Anyhow, GREAT action scenes! I still miss Rise but this style is pretty good. Humans still look weird but action is well done.

Cool Splinter not talking cuz they can't afford Jackie Chan, haha

Bishop making robots could have been Baxter Stockman. But he's make Mousers, not robots.

Edit - Saw the Raph and Donnie eps.

So Raph coincidentally gets caught by the Purple Dragons. We get Mayhem (what do we call this incarnation? Mutant Mayhem was the name of the movie) Angel and Mayhem Hun. Hun was an original character from the 2003 TMNT, right? He seems nice here. Folks say Rise Hun married Rise Cassandra Jones to have Rise Casey. But Casey is the father of Angel, so, uh, I dunno.

Raph with broken ribs seems too much, like he could really be hurt. So far, the others just bounce back from pain but not him. Sai for piercing works for decapitating the head but that should have been a Leo thing. And he had fight help with Hun and Angel and I think the first completely dismantled bot by the plucker.

Also the first fatalities, as the chickens were killed, geez.

I actually looked for clips of Donnie's subway fight but I realize here that he got the short end of the stick. Everybody else had someone to talk to but he got jerk cops and Bishop to talk to. Also the old driver. His was just some plot advancement with his talk but I did love his beast mode where he beats his bot in an enclosed space. Granted he deactivated it instead of wrecking it sooooo Mikey is the legit guy only guy to wreck his opponent wholesale. Good for Mikey but Donnie gets brains over brawn. Plus I know he needed his bot whole to make him Metalhead.

I say best fighter of the bots would be
Mikey - no help, brute forced disarmed his bot twice.
Donnie - practically no help from subway folks who threw junk at the bot only, held his own against the bot in enclosed space until was hacked. Might be worst pain too since his shell scraped the subway wall.
Leo - help by April, blinded the bot in a clever way by using two ninja stars to get the bot hands full then a third to blind it. Knew to tell April to hose it after she axed it's junk.
Raph - help from Hun and Angel, not 100% cuz of internal injuries. Even with Raph decapitating it, Angel slamming the plucker machine then ripping it via plucking actually beats it.

Saw the Bishop ep on YouTube beforehand too, which is weird cuz the whole ep is just a total villain focus. Makes me think of the banned 2003 Baxter Stockman ep. All villain focus ep.

Action still awesome on all fronts. There's no news of season 2 or a second movie?

Saw the rest of Tales.

Btw, Raph was hurt bad cuz he was fighting all four robots at once for a while, before his bros did the fireworks.

Anyhow, awesome Metalhead reveal, hope he returns.

Earth Protection (Defence) Force (Group?) sounds familiar. Was that used in TMNT Fast Forward?

Anyway, uncool that it's only just a comic by Nardo! So Tales really means it's wild stories they're telling! They're not real?!?!

The Pearl 6 parter, I kinda like Raph's voice for Splinter. Dunno if he sounds like Batmaj though.

Not too wild about the East River Three. Lee the Eel reminds me a ton of Josephine from Rescuers Down Under. Mustang Sally (male seahorses hold the babies so not sure if he's male or female) is a little flat and powers are nothing. Goldfin is amazing with his action but unbelievable that a no training goldfish can do ninja stuff like throwing finja blades. Cool fight visuals though. Nice twist on his final endgame, though sad. Anemones are just weird.

Pretty awesome to give each turtle their Mutanimal companion. Some really worked for me.

Raph with Scumbug, well, Scumbug didn't do anything cool. I have to look it up. Is Mayhem Scumbug a guy or a girl? I recall he was a guy and Splinter really was in a pride relationship with him from the Mutant Mayhem movie. Anyhow, he could have done more. Love Ray Fillet's way of talking and he was cool EXCEPT there was no reason why he disappeared in the middle of the ep. Boo on him for that.

Mikey with Genghis Frog was fun since he fixated on the cat but he did nothing action wise with his axe. Maybe should have gotten the Punk Frog with the bow for versatility. What was Napoleon Bona Frog's weapon again? Good showcase on the Purple Dragons again.

Splinter is the Rat King. Interesting take.

Donnie with Wingnut, gosh, I wasn't super into Nadja from What We Do in the Shadows and I wasn't into Malice from Kite-Man Hex Yeah, but I loved her voice in here. I feel like Wingnut got a ton of characterization (even though it was fear) just cuz she had a lot of voice work. Weird though but she didn't fly at all? I think? Leatherhead, also loved the voice and accent on her even though she just appeared. I really was afraid she de mutated. Goof she didn't.

Leo with Pigeon Pete, ooooooh, nice upgrade. Cool voice. And glasses? Good character now. Just needs clothes. Didn't like the whole pigeon fearing cop tho.

Still ends with it being a made up book report?!?! Gosh dang! Still, great showcase of the Mutanimals, without Bebop and Rocksteady.

Hey, where's Mayhem Mondo? Where was Mondo Gecko?!?!

I still don't know if these are actual events that happened, and the Turtles are retelling them or are completely made up; as stuff that happened in the first Story effects stuff that happened in the second. But that doesn't make sense if the first is a Comic Leo made for himself and never seemed to share, for Raph to know the events that happened there. But if they're embellishing actual events or whatever, then it makes sense that both are drawing from the same source.

Close. The Earth Protection Force was the anti-alien organization run by Agent Bishop in Seasons 3-5 of the 2003 cartoon, during Bishop's time as a prejudiced bigot before he turned over a new leaf and replaced the EPF with the Pan-Galactic Alliance by the time of Fast Forward in 2105.
