"THIS IS AN ENGLISH WIKI"
I mean, we did call him "Giant Decepticon Soldier" rather than "Kyōdai Destron Heishi" back in the pre-AVP days.

I do miss the fun non-Juniper attempts at transliterating characters that never appeared in English-language media, such as "Lard-o-Lata" and "Violin Juggler"....

I prefer Star Optimus because by the conventions of the Japanese naming pattern, Star Convoy would be a different character.

Ah, the might space chicken!

I think Violin Juggler is how I’ve said that name for years. As for Star Optimus. It is a name. I think maybe Stellar Prime would’ve rolled off the tongue better. But since this is supposed to be ancient Optimus, what else can you call him.

Star Optimus is supposed to be, as far as the Age of the Primes goes, Primes original form as the Thirteenth Prime. Whereas Star Convoy was Prime/Convoys final evolution.

Personally, I’m not one for making Optimus one of the original Thirteen… But at least we do get a new Star Convoy/Star Optimus figure out of it.

I prefer Star Convoy because I can pretend he's a separate character from Optimus Prime. Yes, I know he's really not, but that's what fanon is for.

"Deaths 'Я' Us" was a classic.
I may have been the only one to see it, but to me it stood to reason that with two combiners named "Road Caesar" and "Liokaiser", that the lead villian of Victory's name was supposed to have been parsed "Death Czarus".

That train sailed a very long time ago, though. 🙃

Now that I see it written out, I kinda feel dumb for not seeing it myself. Especially when they released the subbed series years back and were translating his name as Dezarus at the time.

Death Czarus just… fits.

oh see i don't pay attention to any of the nonsense marketing hasbro uses for their collector toylines these days cuz we all know none of this jive matters cuz it's not like they're actually doing anything with the story marketing they come up with to explain the toyline (but they have to do it cuz turbonerds online would moan in the comment sections online begging for explanations as to WHY ARE THE 13 PRIMES AROUND WITH THE MODERN GUYS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ANCIENT??? HOW HASBRO IT MAKE NO SENSE because these people can't accept 'because we wanted to make toys of them' as an answer)

I don't often buy new Transformers. But I had to get this one.

Out of the box. It's interesting that they'd give cassettes to Perceptor (A.K.A. any character that isn't Soundwave or Blaster). But I sure ain't about to complain. :D

I've never been huge into the autobot cassettes. But a new Ratbat is always welcome.

Side by side with a vintage. I forget where I got this one. I got it used and incomplete.

And microscope form. Again, I didn't have the vintage as a kid. I don't have the instructions. So I don't know if it's transformed correctly or not.

Over all, I'm not sure which I like better. The face on the Studio Series is definitely more cartoon accurate. But you look at the size, plastic quality, heft...and you see why I just don't buy much from Hasbro anymore. The quality just isn't there and they're asking bigger and bigger pricetags for smaller and smaller toys.

Still, I've always liked Perceptor. So to have a complete toy along with a couple pack-ins, I can't complain too much.

I've never owned the original so I don't know how cooperative the joints are, but the arms should be able to squish together in microscope mode.

G1 joints scare me. They're so creaky and squeaky.

i still don't understand the point in that release tbh

like you already did perceptor in studio series...where the whole point is 'this is going to be like the g1 toon!!!!'

and then you...you redeco and retool him slightly...so he's even more toon

what the hug

why

Like the g1 toon, except for the tank treads for a tertiary mode that really could have been omitted without anyone losing any sleep it was gone.
