As both a Godzilla fan and Transformers fan, this ought to be my jam, but that price just puts it right out of range.

I guess there’s only so much you can mod the Grimlock mold. But still, even the base Grimmy figure wasn’t really retooled, which is weird considering it is supposed to be Godzilla.

DNA does improve it, a bit. But not as much as it kinda needs. I don’t want to want it, but I kinda do, which is frustrating.

It's weird, right? Both Godzilla and Grimlock are steeped in the same antiquated, tail-dragging paleoart DNA, but they are different enough that you can't really make Godzilla by just painting Grimlock the right colors; the DNA set goes a long way towards fixing that, but still doesn't quite give an adequate Godzilla shape.

That said, I have enough nostalgia for my childhood "Godzilla", a black rubber "t-rex" with a hole in its belly, that I could almost justify the Megatron figure if it wasn't $70. I could maybe swing half that price for a nostalgia buy, but I still couldn't justify the DNA kit add-on.

EDIT:
The t-rex-ish figure in this set is the one my brothers and I had as a stand-in for Godzilla until the Trendmasters figures came around. Megatron almost pushes that "close-enough-but-not-really" button. Maybe if it goes on sale...

if the head were smaller and the neck shorter, It’d probably give better Godzilla vibes. Most Gojis are kind of pinheads. Not sure why this kit made them so big when the stock head and neck assembly are removed. Thighs are also nowhere near large enough. Goji has them THICC thighs.

So many beastformers just take off parts as weapons that that doesn't bother me. But it'd still be a $63 kit on top of a $70 toy (by BBTS prices) and I'm not THAT fond of it.
I’d have liked any kind of change to the robot mode. The shins are more or less unchanged between modes so some blue spikes there in robot mode would do a lot towards making it less Grimlock. That said they have to work with the base figure and there probably aren’t many good attachment points.
