In my brain I've always pictured the 6 bot teams having the larger combined modes, I don't know how often that holds true in the canons. But it 'feels' right. Didn't get titan devy because he was too big, and predaking being a titan was all kinds of wrong... and yeah purple is a bitch, sometimes I can't tell how off I've gone until I take a picture, or look at it under different lights.

I’m interested in their next project. They showed off a grimlock torso so Volcanicus is next. T rex is a bit rough and probably harder to do on a budget but it’s alright. Got to be harder as well as there’s no second torsobot. Hope they do more after. The devastator sets are getting reissued and are currently out of stock on chinese retailers so it looks like they’re selling very well.

Apart from that, they also showed off a drill tank that turns into G1 hand replacement drill for Devy and a Goldion Hammer. Would love to have that.

Preorders for the Devy sets keep going in and out of stock on BBTS. I'm interested, but if they all came in at once, that's a bit over $300 to drop in one order. And that's before whatever fuckery is going on with tariffs right now.

Yeah, the drill hands are important to me in a weird way... but more so for the altmode weapons I think... easy money for 3p upgrade sets too come to think of it.. transform dreamwave will likely have a pre-order out in a few months for a kit for studio series 86 devy

Transform dreamwave hasn’t done anything since Selects Piranacon. If anybody is doing kits for studio Series Devy it’ll be DNA.

Said kit consists of articulated hands, gap fillers and thigh parts to make Devastator taller for $100.

I can't give DNA too hard a time for what they do with their kits. They're still here while everyone else from the CW upgrade craze disappeared.

That's true. Bad hasbro distribution usually means I can't find the figure before the kits get sold out... so it's been a hot minute since I got one. But a few were tempting.

I'm really not impressed with this. It's just CW Devastator without the interesting transformation and only marginally better robot modes. Don't like the shade of purple either.

Oddly enough the thing that I hate the most is the 5mm hole on the hands. Articulating the hands doesn't mean much when they look pretty bad and unconvincing open but also look bad closed because of the holes.

The black blocks under the armpits make his chest proportions look weird. T-torso to assert dominance.

And yeah, I have the same issue with Armada Prime and Magmatron's hands. The 5mm loop makes the hands look goofy when opened. Make the loop flip down into the palm or something.

Someone needs to rethink Hook's transformation. If they want to replicate Devastator's toon look, Hook has to magically shrink or you end up with this wide rectangle of a torso. It doesn't make Devastator look stronger. It just emphasizes how skinny the arms are.

I get why third parties prefer to leave Scavenger and Bonecrusher's treads attached to the arms instead of the torso. But then it's not toon. At that point just make a good looking Devastator.

Plus they need to stop giving Hook regular feet. Let my man have his clubfoot.

Someone needs to rethink Hook's transformation. If they want to replicate Devastator's toon look, Hook has to magically shrink or you end up with this wide rectangle of a torso. It doesn't make Devastator look stronger. It just emphasizes how skinny the arms are.

I get why third parties prefer to leave Scavenger and Bonecrusher's treads attached to the arms instead of the torso. But then it's not toon. At that point just make a good looking Devastator.

I come across as a simp for this set but the way they handled hook is really smart. Instead of Hook folding in half at the waist, they engineered it so that his shins wrap around his abdomen. It results in a upper torso that isn’t twice the width of a crane truck but only slightly wider than the width of the truck. With some tweaks it can approximate the G1 placement of parts really well.

I’m not a diehard of either placement of the treads but if the torso is already super wide, keep the treads on the arms. The way they currently are makes his torso look bloated and his arms weedy.

also yes, Hook’s ass ends up right under Devastator’s nose.

after Jet fire, all the Commanders either had no hands or were regular size dudes with a trailer. By the time they were doing big dudes again in Legacy, I suspect budget cuts. that or because Jetfire’s transformation is pretty simple and they could afford all the bells and whistles.

Also, Jetfire was our introduction to the Commander class, so I guess they really wanted to make a good impression.

Bought a 3P FOC Shockwave. Stege just isn’t doing it for me. Maybe if the super mode were more interesting or more cohesive to compensate for the altmodes and stege detail. Robot mode’s not bad at all but a bit bland and on the small side. I know Shockwave isn’t the type to be doing the splits or karate poses but with how simple the transformation is, more articulation would have been nice. Even an ab crunch would have done wonders for better Green Goblin poses on his glider thing.

thing comes with a clear purple eye, which is game accurate but I’m considering whether to paint it yellow, gold or even red. All have their upsides.

I got Siegewave on clearance for about a Voyager's price and felt he was pretty good for that. He can do a pretty good Darkseid pose with his arms behind his back while he floats around on his platform.

I got mine shortly after release with a small discount like 10%. Coming to Shockwave after Ultra Magnus was a bit of a disappointment.

Not sure what Studio Series Shockwave is gonna do but I don't have high hopes for an entirely new mold.
