Live Action Pony Is Coming!

This is the biggest news we've gotten in a while. It's also the ONLY news we've gotten in a while, but I'll take what I can get. Hasbro is allergically working with Amazon MGM Studios to make a live action My Little Pony movie.

Will it be good? Or will it be terrible? Will it even get made at all? Who knows? Amazon MGM's output doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Live-Action pony?

Considering the horrible track record of most live-action versions of animated movies, I'm not too exited about it. Yeah, there's been a couple good gems like the Sonic movies, but I'm not holding my breath. Right now, I'm about 80% certain that a live-action MLP movie will be .

Time will tell, i guess.

Transformers films are all dead. GI JOE dead. MLP live action movie greenlit. What.

I don't believe it because it sounds like an obviously hopelessly doomed idea, but I thought the same thing when rumors started swirling about a live action Sonic movie.

If by some miracle they actually make it to a first trailer, I hope it's not another "Ugly Sonic" moment. We were lucky the people behind the first Sonic film listened to the fans and made the appropriate corrections.

Though, we don't know yet if this will be based on any existing generations. We may not have to worry about another "Ugly Sonic" scenario.

Ugly Sonic is an absolute legend in the industry. I'm confident they won't let that happen here.

I'm doubtful for other reasons. Sonic worked for reasons that aren't inherently applicable to anything else. Unless they're going to the G1 route, which Hasbro has never shown any interest in doing again, there is no role for live action characters here.

Well, Ugly Sonic gave us the cameo in the Chip and Dale movie, so I'd say it all worked out.

As for this movie? Yeah, I have a hard time having too much faith in it, too. I'm pretty much expecting a "cartoon characters in the REAL world" movie. But, maybe they'll prove us wrong. Maybe we'll get something more like the Lego Movie, or the Barbie movie, or maybe they'll go full-on fantasy isekai with it. It could turn out good.

Or they could just make it a live action Equestria Girls movie, basically. Which would be FAR cheaper than most other options. At least it'd almost certainly turn a profit that way.

But, most of Hasbro's modern movies have been pretty decent, even if they don't perform the best at the box office. They're usually not bad movies, they just under-perform. So, there's some hope that they have a script that could work here. There's some hope to be had. Not much, but some.
