Judge Lord Hodge said the ruling should not be seen as a triumph of one side over the other, and stressed that the law still gives protection against discrimination to people.

The Scottish government argued in court that transgender people with a gender recognition certificate (GRC) are entitled to the same sex-based protections as biological women...

He added that the legislation gives transgender people "protection, not only against discrimination through the protected characteristic of gender reassignment, but also against direct discrimination, indirect discrimination and harassment in substance in their acquired gender".

There's already a discussion about this in the other thread.

Which makes me wonder why we have two LGBT+ threads if the same articles are going to be posted in both. I got the impression from the first post that this thread was going to be for more positive news and discussions, but it seems like a number of negative articles from the other thread also get posted here. Maybe we could change this thread title to "Uplifting LGBTQ+ News & Articles" to help avoid the redundancy.

A bipartisan group of senators has reintroduced the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), a bill that died in the House last year amid concerns that it could be used to censor LGBTQ+ content online. The newly reintroduced KOSA has reportedly made changes to mitigate those concerns, but some queer advocacy groups and even some Republicans continue to oppose the bill over free speech concerns...

Hot take: Every "upbeat" Pride event in the US this year should be canceled in favor of a protest. If the organizers are the establishment, people should refuse to participate and protest the event itself.

The source had an image that's probably against forum rules, so I'm quoting without linking.
At the weekend, a group of trans women protested topless at the Scottish Parliament about the recent Supreme Court ruling that the Equality Act defines women as "biological women". The police couldn't arrest them, because to arrest them for showing their breasts would be to define them as women (it's not illegal for men to be topless). And, of course, the right-wing press that reported on it censored their breasts, thereby making their point for them.

Technically this is the "not quite as bad" followup, but it still involves bad news.
The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline. They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY So spread this around They can be texted. They can be called.
