June 20, 1975, JAWS hit theaters and made a generation of moviegoers afraid to get their feet wet. 50 years later, it's June 20, 2025 and JAWS is still one of the greatest films ever made.
Yes, we're getting old.
General movie news isn't normally a core part of this site's fare, but it was morally obligatory to say something on this day. I could go on about how this film is nearly perfect, how every single scene and nearly every line of dialog advances the film along, either in terms of plot or characterization, without a speck of waste. But at this point pretty much everything that can be said has been said. There are whole essays, books, and documentaries devoted to this masterpiece. So for me, the best way to appreciate this movie is simply to watch it again and bask in the timeless brilliance.

I want that NECA set. It's hilarious that they made it. In the meantime though, I'm just going to break out my 35th Anniversary DVD and watch this masterpiece again.
