President Trump Rejects Egyptian Plan for Gaza, Sticks With His Own

As of today, March 7, US President Donald Trump remains committed to his plan to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, envisioning the territory’s redevelopment into a “Riviera of the Middle East” after displacing its roughly 2 million residents to neighboring countries like Egypt and Jordan. This stance follows Trump’s initial announcement in February, where he proposed a US-led takeover of Gaza, a position reaffirmed despite international criticism, including from Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, which have rejected forced displacement as violating international law.

The White House clarified, through Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s plan does not involve US troops or funding for rebuilding, focusing instead on temporary relocation to facilitate reconstruction, though critics, including human rights advocates, decry it as ethnic cleansing, citing the Geneva Conventions’ prohibition on mass forcible transfers.

The Trump administration dismissed Egypt’s $53 billion postwar reconstruction plan for Gaza, endorsed by Arab leaders at a Cairo summit on March 4, 2025, which aims to allow Palestinians to remain in their territory. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s plan as “remarkable,” while Palestinian groups like Hamas condemned it as exacerbating regional tensions, and Egypt continues to mediate ceasefire efforts, maintaining its commitment to keeping Palestinians in Gaza, creating a stark policy divide between the U.S. and key Middle Eastern allies.

. . . . yeah, the Orange Asshat has an idea in his head. No power known is going to dissuade him. And as we slowly tick towards midnight on the Doomsday Clock, he'll be sitting behind the desk, rubbing his hands with glee at the thought of a golden tower with his name emblazoned on a throne surrounded by golden idols bearing his image.

WILD thing for the major head of one of the two US Political Parties to say.

Although he seems to be doing *that* about as well as everything else (so not at all…)

Did you foresee that Israel killing thousands of Palestinian civilians would only swell the ranks of Hamas? Congratulations, you’re apparently smarter than the Israeli Military Establishment.

Wild that warning Israel against this exact outcome and trying to cut military aid so they can’t make the problem worse is :checks notes: Anti-Semitism

Something from the UN:
I don't remember hearing there was a complete blockade of any aid put in place, but it's apparently been there since March?

Good to see that the United Nations remains as respectable as ever:

The accusations [of rape] facing Khan have become entwined with the international conflict over Gaza. Just 2½ weeks after Khan learned of the allegations against him last spring, he surprised Israeli and U.S. officials by announcing the most dramatic arrest warrant in the court’s history—for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The timing of the announcement has spurred questions about whether Khan was aiming to protect himself from the sexual-assault allegations. The day before announcing the warrant application, Khan abruptly canceled a trip to Israel and Gaza that he had previously said was important to make his decision.

The warrant shored up support for Khan among anti-Israel ICC nations that would likely back Khan if the allegations ever became public, according to court officials. The warrant also discouraged his accuser for a time from pushing her allegations, officials said, because she strongly supported the investigation of Israeli leaders.

As the abuse allegations were swirling among ICC staff and others, Khan allegedly tried to get his accuser to disavow them by telling her the charges would hurt the Palestinian investigation, according to her testimony.

Considering that it's the UN investigating this, then perhaps they are enacting due diligence?

I still fail to see how the separate potential crime of sexual assault somehow removes all blame from someone possibly guilty of war crimes (Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu).

He deserves plenty of blame for his multiple crimes. The problem is going after him with a tainted and unreliable prosecution. I don't trust big pharma, nor do I trust RFK to investigate them.
