And in 24 hours, there will be a new Ayatollah.

If there's anything Iran has no shortage of, it's ambitious mullahs. Khamenei is easily replaced.

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

This would be the perfect moment for khamenei to pop onto tv for like five seconds and say "I lived, bitch.".

Yeah I'm sure this single death will somehow magically make all of Iran just like it was in the 70s. Woo. Hoo.

Hey, while we're killing war criminals, where is Bibi at right now? Asking for some friends at the Hague

So they just left a power vacuum at the very top but the machine that kept the Islamic theocracy in place is mostly untouched. Likely won't change anything. Once again the Iranians should have done this themselves.....

Khamenei was Iran's leader for 36 years and a lot of the system was oriented around his cult of personality. You don't just put a Vice Ayatollah nobody ever heard of in charge and have a smooth transition, even under good circumstances.

Yup. All we've done is create absolute chaos as a handful of underlings claim to be the 'one true successor' and drives the country deeper into instability.
Regime change forced from the outside does not work. Never has. But we had to stop people from talking about Epstein somehow, didn't we?

Yeah, Khamenei was around forever and had big personal pull, but the regime's got redundancies, IRGC backing, and a bench of known hardliners.

It's not plugging in some random nobody. It's insiders choosing an insider to keep the machine going. Smooth on paper? Probably. Zero drama? Maybe not, but "cult of personality" doesn't mean the wheels fall off overnight.

We didn't just whack Khamenei though. The whole regime is a mess right now.

It's definitely a mess. The strikes took out IRGC chiefs, defense minister, military staff too, plus ongoing hits. Regime's scrambling with a temp council and no obvious successor yet.

But Iran's built for this kinda shock: constitution kicks in, Assembly picks next leader fast (like '89 transition), IRGC runs the real power anyway.

Messy AF right now? Absolutely. Total collapse? Not yet. Hardliners are probably closing ranks to survive. Still, ambitious insiders might be thrilled the old man's finally out of the way.
