He-Man, and also the Masters of the Universe

As the fall approaches, retailer inventory systems continue to see updates for products for next year.
If you’re interested in some nitty gritty about next year’s Chronicles assortments, listings are in system for Wave 1. Interesting to note that Mattel’s promotional text DOES highlight the intent for Flight Armor He-Man to complement the forthcoming Sky Sled.

More details for Battle for Subternia, including promotional text for Core Wave 5. The big gimmick for BfS will be glow in the dark weapons, so I guess we’ll see how that turns out. Wave 5 is set to include a He-Man variant, Evil-Lynn, and a pared down Trap Jaw, who seemingly features a projectile shooting arm for his hook. Listings have also revealed a new Ground Ripper. The Amazon info prices it at $24.99 with the BfS branding.
For reference, Core Battle Cat runs about $21-22, while the Amazon exclusive Sky Sled was about $27 and included a figure. The Ground Ripper also cropped up in DeepDiscountDVD’s retail system as well, making it unlikely a retailer exclusive.

With Mattel having teased future releases of their DC Premier line at SDCC, I’m hoping future MOTU Core stuff is addressed at NYCC in October.

For those who have Walmarts without MOTU in the regular aisle, keep an eye out for the "Collector Island" going back up this year. Mine got theirs up and for MOTU, they were stocking Chronicles (Wave 3 with Teela and Ram Man), Core (Wave 3), Deluxe 200x Whiplash, Masterverse Vintage style (Beast Man), and Movie Origins Deluxe. Mine had Roboto out, but only a shelf tag for Trap Jaw (who has been sold out online for a while). Plus a "Skeletor Bust", probably the MegaConstrux thing.

If last year holds true, there should also be some rotation on the Origins Deluxe and Masterverse figures later in the fall.

And for those that missed it, BBTS is now offering preorders for Chronicles Orko

I’d link to them if I could, but I came across some images (from Facebook) of Core Wave 4 with out of package comparisons to the character’s Origins counterparts. Seems the promo pics are on point, as far as deco and stuff are concerned. The face deco on Teela seems the best of sub-Chronicles figures. Skeletor looks wonderful.
Amazon still has them locked until October, but online retailers like Entertainment Earth have had them in stock for weeks now. Wouldn’t surprise me if they also started to crop up in the next few weeks as more Walmart locations start carrying the line and stores, overall, start gearing up for the holidays.

I finally got to watch the film this weekend. I loved it! Going to put my thoughts in spoilers.

We get a nice setup to start it off, just a touch of Earth that didn't run too long, and then we are back to Eternia. I will be honest, there were a few things that I didn't like.

1. Skeletor ruling Eternia for 15 years yet didn't bother to over run the resistance location until the sword comes back, when it was easy for him to do.

2. I wasn't a big fan of Adam being non-confrontational for most of the film.

3. The whole drunken Man at Arms was just weird. Loved him at the beginning though.

4. Teela just immediately shutting down Heman was a weird/awkward moment.

To be honest, I loved the self-aware of the campiness and the jokes about it. The whole nicknames Adam has for everyone was great, and I loved the ending where he is trying to pretend that he isn't Heman is great. Loved seeing Dolph again too. I think that Leto did a great job as Skeletor, and I loved the mind scenes at the end. I would have changed it a bit though, and have Adam grab his hand and seeing Keldor's origin. It would have given Heman more of a reason to try to deal with him like he does later. I did like the after credits scene with Shera, and I really hope that they get to that.

I would give this film a strong four out of five, and would recommend it to anyone that is a fan of the franchise.

I found this at Target today. I've been waiting for this one...I just wish that I could have found it AFTER payday and not have immediate FOMO.

And out of package. The eyes look a little weird when blown up on a photo like this, but actually seeing the figure in real life...I mean it still looks a little weird, like maybe she needs more sleep. But it's not too bad...really.

Look. I'm just...I'm just saying. I'M JUST SAYING. Maybe...just maybe...it's possible I collected more Teela figures than I realized. I'm just saying.

I still have yet to find a skeleknight in store.
I ordered mine from Amazon when they got back down to retail SRP. I've yet to see wave 2 in stores at all, and unless it cycles back out in the inventory system for the holidays, might have to just order on. To my surprise, Entertainment Earth has actually been steady sold out of Wave 2 Skeletor and his SkelKnight.

Some deals this week:
Amazon has the new Grayskull/Snake Mountain combo playset down to only $55. A number of Chronicles figures and sets on sale, including the Amazon Exclusive 2 pack of Ram Man and Fisto, which is down to $29. Core Deluxe Skeletor is down to $10, He-Man to $7, making it a "buy one, get one free" situation. Plus assorted Origins figures anywhere from $9-17

Target, meanwhile, has Origins Film figures down between $13-16 for most.

I should have army built them when they were down to $9 each. Oh well. I will just have to keep my eyes open for them.

Wave 4 Core is out at retail, picked up Skeletor and Teela v2 at Walmart on the display. Skeletor is gorgeous, and the face deco on Teela is SO much better than the first.

I'm watching this show Dark on Netflix and this appeared on the shelf in a house in 1986.

Skeletor is obvious but that's Skeletor from New Adventures of He-Man beside him, right?

Who are the others?

Yes, that IS the New Adventures version of Skeletor. Specifically, the 3rd version which was released towards the end of the line.

Rest look like a mix of knock offs and customs to me.

You're not missing anything. That's really what it is. But a sidescroller brawler with MotU characters (and She-Ra)? Yeah, I absolutely want this. I was an 80's kid and 90's teen that hang out in arcades. Side-scrolling brawlers are my jam. So a MotU brawler...especially after what they were able to do with TMNT and Marvel...I can't wait!
