There's definitely gonna be a lot of reshuffling after the trump admin ends, assuming the US survives his second term. We've seen some moderate Republicans switch sides while the more progressive wing of the Democratic party has started primarying establishment Democrats. Not sure we'll even have the same parties after this once the dust settles. Now only if we could get some real constitution level reforms.... Get rid of the electoral college and force states to abandon first past the post elections.

Good for the people of Iowa, I'm sure, but I confess to always being disappointed when I see news like this and learn that's just the state Senate, and our national one remains unchanged....

Being defeatist doesn't help anything. We take the win and keep pressing forward. Fascist regimes generally have short lifespans and the one we've got has senile idiot as a figurehead. We've got to slow them down and every victory like this helps with that goal.

Democrats thought the 2024 election was a contest to see who was the more qualified candidate. It wasn't. The 2024 election was a referendum on "wokeness".

That's why Trump won. The people who elected him do not give one jive that he's terrible, or that he's incompetent, or that he'll run the country into the ground. They believed that by voting for him, they were casting a vote against "wokeness". That was the only thing they cared to know.

Even now, you can easily trigger any group of Trumpers into losing their jive by promoting "wokeness" in their presence.

To be fair, Republicans aren't the only ones who don't understand the concept of an election. Many "progressives" were under the impression that the election was an opportunity to send a message to the Democratic Party about the immorality of sucking Israel's dick, and they used it for that purpose, regardless of the consequences.
