Okay, so, I need some help with Mable's Research. I'm level 47 trying to get that Shiny Charm. Here's what's keeping me from it.
Filling Your Pokedex
Filling Your Mega Evolution Pokedex
Evolving via Tradelink
Winning Pokemon Battles.
Now of course, winning Pokemon battles is something I kinda need to do myself, and I'm totally prepared to do that grind. But the other three go hand in hand.
The only things left in my pokedex are trade evolutions. And I just realised that I only have three stones that I haven't given to pokemon for mega evolution and I need 4. Are they seriously locking that research bit behind an event stone?
Anywaaaaaaay! I need help getting those last few trade evolutions for my Pokedex and also the Evolving Tradelink task...which of course would be taken care of at the same time.
Trick being, one of the pokemon I'm trying to evolve is a shiny. So I need someone I can trust to trade me and trade it right back. Here's who I have ready to trade evolve:
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the 3 Kalos Starter Mega Stones count for the Research Task. Which...is kind of dirty pool, honestly. We won't be able to complete that task until...probably December or so, at the rate they're changing Seasons. Luckily, they are making getting the first two easier to get in Season 2, since you only need to reach Rank Y for the Greninjite and Rank S for the Delphoxite. In Season 1 you had to reach Rank K. Still a pain, but less of one.
And I need to do all the trade evolutions, too. I have beaten the game, but there are some massive holes in my Dex. If you can give me until the weekend to set things up and catch all the relevant Pokemon I can probably help us both out with that. If we're not in such different time zones that we can't make it work out. We can see. Maybe someone else is all ready to go.
Also, we got news about the DLC!
I'll admit, the "Mega Dimension" being a slightly more desaturated and grey-scaled Lumiose is a *little* disappointing. I was kind of hoping they'd go a little crazier with it. Seeing original Lumiose above you as a giant "moon" is kind of cool, though.
Being able to go above level 100 with these special donuts is interesting. But, it does kind of feel like Gamefreak not really knowing what else to do to make the game interesting for veterans. This might explain why no Pokemon who are from this game can be used in other current games. They're were planning this. I'm guessing you just get given a level 100 or over level 100 Raichu in order to introduce you to the mechanics of this.
Korrina's new outfit is...ugly. I don't like this design. I'm sure there's a reason for it. But, yeesh. I do wonder if she'll react to the Lucario you got from AZ at the end of the game, though.
I actually really like Mega Chimecho. It's ornate, but in a fun way. I do like that it's shaped like a giant Chingling.
Mega Baxcalibur just has a lot more design elements all over him. So...he's basically the Millenium or Heisei era Godzilla! I can dig it. Too bad his Mega Stone is another Online Rank Up reward for Season 4.
It's worth noting that Taunie/Urbain is here. Which, as I understand it, they leave if you do something in the post-game. So, that could be interesting, story wise.
And it's coming December 10! So, not too long at all.
Also, if you get a Mystery Gift over the Internet, you can get a special Mega Stone that activates a new side mission if you go to the Looker Bureau, if you've already beaten the story. It involves a Mythical. I'll say no more.
I really hope this method of acquiring those mega stones isn't the only solution, nor that they be confined to dlc or a store code. They once updated Legends Arceus to have a few extra missions so they should do the same here down the line.
Zaku: I live in EST. I have to admit, I'll probably be a pain in the ass to schedule with. I work Saturdays. I spend Sundays at my parents. Sunday and Monday evenings are play dates with a friend. So best bet is probably going to be if someone can do an evening EST some day that's not Sunday or Monday.
As far as Mega Stones go, there's good news there. I haven't gotten any of the online stones and once I get those trade evos, I'll only be one short. Turns out, once you do 15 rounds of Infinite Royal, you'll get that immortal Floette along with its megastone.
So you can fill the megadex for Mable without online battles. It's just going to take some work.
