This is interesting, I'd been thinking they would do the MW characters that share molds with the Euro G2 characters, but if this is it's own mold, its repaints are, what, Megaplex, the RID repaints, and a couple of Botcon figures? Still a decent spread I guess. Now make a Stalker/MW Soundwave mold and we'll talk.

You know, I never really noticed that boxart before, and I still have the box! For anyone else that wants to see the comparison.

MW Boxart - They literally took the G2 boxart, and cut off his pauldrons, took away the sword, swapped out the chest piece, and recolored it.

Ngl, feels a bit like a slap in the face to Tidal Wave to pair him with a whale transformer and it not be him, haha.

As Titan happy as I can be, I don't think I can bring myself to double dip on Tidal Wave.

Especially when Tidal Wave's Japanese name is "Shockwave".

Conspiracy theory: The Titan remake was obviously done for the easy repaint, but later Whale Shockwave could be repainted and remolded as Tidal Wave. Then they can re-reissue the set in Japan as Shockwave and Tidal Wave (whale).

unluckiness

Somehow still sane

I can understand why they’d want to make a decepticon-heavy line but I dunno, only two dude not even guaranteed as Autobots may be a bit too much.

Yeah, I remember seeing the box and being tempted, then seeing what the actual toy looked like on the back, and being like "Eh, I'm good."

Regrets... I have a few...

I’m not sure I regret not getting the Machine Wars line itself, but speaking from my own perspective:
My strongest “visual identity“ of Machine Wars Prime WAS the box art and the look of the vehicle mode. Because for, maybe close to a decade or more, the in box images of Machine Wars Optimus Prime was the only clear visual reference and images of the robot mode were so low res that the head details were largely obscured. Aside from the obvious “large helmet with prominent mohawk/crest” detail. (Sidebar: which might make for a nice twist on the Prime head design, IMO).

So I’m very much in the camp of giving any take on Machine Wars Optimus Prime a more classical head design and save the original look for Thunderclash.
