Generations 2027: No More Primes! It is the Age of Evolution!

BM Megatron just wasn't a very good toy. He really needed to be at least an Ultra. As is, weight aside, he really is an enhanced Deluxe. It comes across in his size, simplicity, and "sloppiness", for lack of a better word. His robot stomach is just his dragon arms shoved into the gap between his chest and waist, with nothing holding it all together into a cohesive torso. His wings are segmented into a top half and bottom half on a hinge joint, leaving the whole assembly kind of floppy. And even with his cloak, his small size means he just has virtually no presence around the rest of the line, which leaves him very underwhelming as the big threat.

It really doesn't help that the gimmick he gets from his higher price class feels like more of a detriment than a plus. The dragon head/arm gimmick just makes it so you have to fight against it to do much of anything with it.

I would love to see him redone with much more room to work. Probably as a Commander in the current line.

Kicking myself for having slept on this release at the time. And in these colors it's even better.
Dude... I think I have like 3 BM Megatrons laying around in a drawer somewhere. I'll see if I can find them.

UPDATE: I was only able to locate 1. Now that I think about it, I might have sold 2 of them off a couple of years ago.

I got the American version and the first thing I did was badly paint the inside of the wings gold. It was a lousy job at the time, at some point I need to clean them off (which will be a sticky and paper-towel filled mess) and redo it.

Mine was entirely grey inside the wings and the head didn't have that extra coloration. I know it wasn't a KO, I got it in WalMart when Beast Machines toys first came out.

There's a guy in Tampa who has a back store room filled with MiB BM figures. He says he's waiting for the nostalgia cycle to kick in on them and he'll cash out.

Let me guess, he’s got a bunch of the 2002-2005 Neo-O-ring GI Joe stuff as well?

I still have my OG Beast Machines Megatron. Though, one of the tail prongs broke off years ago.

I have the trio. Megatron, Beast Changer, and Megabolt. And at least two of the McDonald's one.

Ah, geez, I probably need a Megabolt even more than the first Megatron. I got the RID one, which has really nice colors, but alas, he came with a side order of GPS.

If you care for the design at all, it's worth owning one that doesn't break. We're unlikely to ever get a better one.

Some tidbits from interviews

Confirms a combiner for 2027 and 2028, though they don't say who, so the 2027 one might be Nexus Maximus?

Superion is 100% the intended frame for Nexus Maximus. They could do a new frame down the road based on feedback they've received, but for right now it's Superion or nothing.

Confirmed Demolisher for next years release and Cyclonus is planned at some point.

New versions of previously toy-exclusive characters will likely be put under Generations, not Studio Series.

Demolisher is generations, one of stragglers before the full refocus of Generations and Studios Series.

Hoping to do more smaller scale figures like the cereal Jazz, but no current plans. Mentions that this might be a good place to get representations of larger characters (Unicron, Abominus) that would otherwise have to weight for room in the larger size categories.

Want to maintain distinctive lanes for MTO and Haslab. Trying to keep MTO's $150-200 or lower. Next one is already planned and is "quite different" from the Seeker 4-pack. Believe they hit on a good formula for combiners when asked if they could go MTO.

Oddly enough, I'm kind of excited about the Nexus limbs, even though I have no plans to buy Nexus Prime or Silverbolt to complete the combined form.

I definitely hope they take the feedback that they apparently got this weekend and come up with something to get Nexus a dedicated frame. Borrowing Superion's frame is ok as an interim solution, but he really does need to get his own.

And no, a G2 Superion boxset color matched to Nexus is not an ok way of doing it!
