Have you ever noticed how when a bunch of white mages get together to celebrate, it looks like an atomic bomb just went off in the background?

The FF MtG sets look really fun, but the prices are nuts even before it's released. We managed to get some preorders in at local card shops, but OW.

Well, since FFXVI is now on Xbox (digitally at least screw you Microsoft), I am now in the midst of playing through it. And hot damn is it fun!

I do see why people are torn on it. I mean< it is pretty much a single player action game where Clive basically has a DMC Devil Trigger and a lot of the sidequest are very filler-y. Still, the main thrust of the story is epic, the voice acting is awesome. And the Eikon fights are cinematic insanity. So yeah, I love it.

A fair point. I was mainly saying that because it’s only a digital release and not a physical one as well. I mean, I’m glad it’s on Xbox so I am play it.

You’re probably right in that it’s likely SquEnix saving money.

One thing I will say, especially during Realm Reborn, new players often feel like skipping through story bits because it feels like it's taking too long. The first expansion (Heavensward) is where the story really picks up. Even so, don't skip the cinematics. And don't worry about watching cinematics during multi-player bits either. The community is known for being very patient with sprouts watching cinematics they haven't seen before. Neigh, as a matter of fact, they will downright plead with new players to not skip the cinematics.

And if you ever run into trouble, don't be afraid to ask, here but even in the game. The FF XIV community is pretty well known for being friendly to newbies.

Yeah, 16, not 14. :)

Though I do no 14 is good. I’ve just never gotten into MMORPGs.

Also, because yes, I am playing on Story (easy) mode, I am cracking on through the story and loving it. Doing the side quests is fun, if sometimes tedious because of the mostly fetchquest nature of them. However, the story stuff you get from them are (mostly) worth it. In so cases to the point I wonder why they didn’t leave them as part of the main story rather Jan as optional stuff.

The Titan and Bahamut Eikon battles are the best parts, and Bahamuts special moves are worth it, once i got the hang of them. Though I’m still not the best at timing dodges.

Also kinda think they could (and should) have done more with Benedicta, as ending her so fast was a shame. And Jill should have gotten more active things to do..

I've tried playing some of the FFs after 9, but I have a hard time getting into them (except for watching TMM play 14). The last few FFs have just felt so dark and focused on making things look pretty. I miss having parties that aren't just all pretty humans around the same age. I couldn't even get into the pretty boys brotrip one.

I ‘mostly’ enjoyed 15 for what It tried to do. The brotrip squad and the amount of driving was… a choice. It just felt a bit disconnected to go for magitech kingdom and giant god monsters to… roadtrip with the boys..

I like 10, 12 got a bit convoluted and the 13 trilogy did not hook me. Just couldn’t gel with any of the characters.

But yeah, it would be nice to get a bit more fantastical variety to the squads. And I’m still unsure as to whether FFVII Remake is gonna stick the landing.

I love 15. I'd almost want to go play it again except that I have that perfect playthrough including having gone through the extra dungeons and I just don't want to risk losing that.

The only thing I really dislike about it is the summons. Or, more accurately, the random chance that you might possibly get the opportunity to call in a (random) summon. Who, for me, was Ramuh nine times out of ten. Also, it never happens when I really need it, mostly when I’m fighting random moois or a demon.

my only other major nitpick is the ‘magic weapons cost health to use’, thus making it generally better not to use them very often. Which is a shame, because they’re cool.

Did you beat the giant turtle Cal?

Plus, its a shame that the final, alternate, possibly better ending, is a book because the rest of the dlcs got cancelled.

Yup, beat the turtle. First time I did it straight up. Took forever. Since then I've just used the ring.

Well done, i haven’t beaten it yet myself. Though that has more to do with my getting sidetracked from 15 and never going back to it.

i really should get back to it soon.
