Figure a thread is in order now that a full trailer has dropped.
Exodus is a grand scifi RPG in development at Archetype Entertainment. Archetype was established in 2019 by Wizards of the Coast for AAA game development in Austin, Texas, with much of its key staff hailing from Bioware. Studio heads are James Ohlun (lead designer/Creative Director on the first two Baldur's Gate games, along with KOTOR and the first Dragon Age) and Chad Robertson (also a Bioware alum). Lead writer on the project is Drew Karpyshyn, lead writer for the first two Mass Effect games along with Knights of the Old Republic.

Following the drop of the second batch of Secret Level episodes (episode 11 is set in this game universe), a gameplay teaser was dropped nearly a year after the initial teaser at the Game Awards in 2023. And it does look quite Mass Effect-ish

You have my curiosity. But I'm not quite ready to commit yet.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

No sexy purple chick? Hard pass.

Alright, bullshit aside: it doesn't look too bad. But good space opera RPG is very hard to do. They've got a decent pedigree to start with, and some of the combat mechanics looked very interesting... but...

Yeah, keeping an eye on it, but not necessarily on my grab list. Not yet.

A new gameplay trailer dropped during The Game Awards, showcasing more of the world and characters. It remains VERY Mass Effect. The trailer seems to be indicating an “Early 2027” release date for the game.

I mean... not bad. Some good looking environments, nice looking combat, hints of a good story if handled well... It could be an expedition 33, or not. Flip a coin.

Can't really watch the trailer while I'm at work. I'll watch it when I get home. Though, if like you said in the ME thread, they snapped up most of the core team from ME...

I don't know. I mean, I fear what might happen to the Mass Effect franchise if the next game suffers due to most of the core teams being headhunted by another company. I don't think Mass Effect can survive another flop.

But after Andromeda, I'm kinda approaching the mew ME game with caution anyway and if this new game manages to do the same sort of game just as well....

I'm...conflicted.

We're at the point where the price is the deal maker: and if they charge the triple A price... it'll probably fail.

If it turns out to be decent, is it really going to have much competition? It's been a while since there was a well received Mass Effect game.

Looks interesting, though I'm not sure if I have the patience or level of focus for long, story driven games anymore.
