You may test that assumption at your convinience.

I bought some games with my christmas gifts (the joys of giving up on family ever getting you transformers and simply pre-ordering everything you want. You get steam money instead of excuses.), and have been playing Erenshor.

Since you all know me: it's an open world, survival crafting game! HA!

Actually, it's a fairly clever, single player, old school MMO sim. Janky ass controls and all. Right mouse click to pan the camera and tank controls for the win!

So, lots of indie titles lately have had the default engine graphics, like "bloodlines" (a wild, fun open world RPG in the vein of oblivion or skyrim, but taking not taking itself seriously while pushing the limits of the engine mechanics. Juggle them goblins!) and this one is no different. But the minimalist models and graphics thematically work. Where it's clever is the NPC's. They play like actual human players. Running around, grinding, spamming chat and hanging out in town. You can (and are encouraged to.) party up into a group of five total, and do remember to diversify the classes: you'll have much better luck. I have yet to finish the tutorial because I've been working out how to grind some levels effectively. But I am getting it now. Luckily: the tutorial is also the game demo, so you get a fairly integrated game experience regardless.

I have yet to get a "collect X number of slug shins" quest, but there are quests; and while the quest lines in the stowaway isles is simplified for the purposes of teaching you to play, completion open the story up to the actual main land of the game.

All in all, having some good fun, and it's scratching my itch for an old school online experience while still allowing me to be a cranky, lonely old man.
