I lamented the lack of gamefaqs for newer games :(

Played only an hour to get the bad ending.

In a few days, I swear, I will FIND that hidden boss, with the four clues! I'm so annoyed by not finding him!

No spoilers cuz I'm sure i can figure it out. He can't hide from me and my new purple and green outfit! Hehe

This game really makes me lament the death of strategy guides.

Like, I hate to say Google is completely useless, because it did get me in the general vicinity of where I needed to be. But it had me dancing all around what I needed to do for hours before I just decided to put it aside and screw around for a bit..and I lucked into doing what I actually needed to do!

Sites giving walkthroughs are okay for how to do certain quests...but if all you want is like a very specific location, you could be looking around various FAQ's only mildly touching on parts before and after what you need. And so far, Youtube video's are 20+ minute long affairs and trying to find just the part you need is just...ugh!

I miss strategy guides!

So do I, but such is the world we live in.

While streaming Tales of Legendia I was trying to find a damn guide on how to get out of a particular dungeon and I kid you not, the online guides were like: "So yeah go in here and wander through the dungeon till you get to the end"

Like what the hell? That's not helpful in the least bit!

Also not wanting to find some 20 minute youtube video, I was lucky to wander around enough to get out.

For Legendia I could actually buy a guide. But this is of course a modern game. So no cool book with neat artwork and map printouts and gah this is depressing me.

Well, thankfully I was able to cobble together what I needed. I got the good ending. Credits are rolling.

So...very parkour. In fact, it may be a bit too parkour for my Castlevania taste. But I got used to it. Most importantly, after so long, we finally have a true new Castlevania game. And it was honestly fun. Too heavy on the parkour...but fun.

Even having beaten in, I do still want to get a physical copy at some point. This was an awesome experience. But hopefully now that I got the good ending, I can finally get to bed on time again.

Whoever made the Talos boss fight I want to fire.

It was a surprise to get him down to about half and then have to platform to the new room. Not a great thing to be presented with, but fine whatever.

Then you get to the part where you have to platform back UP with the &*$%&# time limit.

NO. Do not do things like this. It's NOT fun. It's NOT innovative. It's annoying and frustrating.

I understand this part was my fault, but in that one area where you basically had to run to the left, drop down, then run to the right, drop down, etc.? Going back up you see the two whip latches and I'd get up to the second, and thought I had to jump up high enough to grab that final one. No you actually just wall jump and go right to left and back to get back up. The fistblocks will give you enough time. Now get to the part where the three come down at different times and get through that fast enough to finish off the boss.

I hated it. HATE.

Ugh, I saw a video that spoiled the hidden boss. Turns out there's no way to find him without going to another part of the castle anyway. I would have wasted my time just staying in one place, oh well.

There are definitely frustrating parts. Absolutely not gonna lie. It's why I don't feel guilty in the least using the sliders to make enemies a non-issue, because traversal is frustrating enough...especially when Google AI keeps sending you around in circles. I honestly think it was deliberately trolling me.

But at least now I got the good ending. Now I can just kinda screw around, have fun killing random zombies. I may fill out more of the map, see if I can't find some weapons and stat increase things. But the pressure is finally gone. I beat it. Now's the fun part of no pressure exploration.

Final grade after a night's sleep and some time to absorb.

Graphics - Beautiful. Of course, it’s to be expected given the consoles capabilities over previous generations. But this is easily the most beautiful Castlevania game. Seeing updated graphics of classic enemies (as opposed to the old portable games that notoriously reused old sprites, was exciting to see.

Music - I kinda wished they would have updated more classic tunes. They have Bloody Tears. That’s good. That’s awesome. I would have liked to hear more. Still, the music they did have was top notch. I can’t complain.

Gameplay - Smooth, very tight. Bottom line, I had a lot of fun playing this. But, so.much.parkour!!!

Story: Absolutely loved it. Seeing a direct continuation from Castlevania III and seeing Trevor having a good bit of story time was awesome. I love Rose. Story was great.

9 out of 10

Beautiful, catchy music, love the story, can't deny I had a lot of fun playing this. Got to take it down a tick for relentless parkour.

No, but he's been screwed so much, it's hard to judge this particular game for it. I think at this point he's just been de-canonized.

I refuse to accept that. Grant has to come back! Hehe

Anyhow, next leg of Belmont's Curse. My friend beat the Builder. I beat the Artist. My fight was waaaaay tougher, haha

Cute thing for me is the Builder's ability being the first of the Tarot to complete. I love that he's sorta on Rose's side now. He's single minded but he knows what he wants.

The Artist was kiiiinda cool too. Love the call back, haha
