BotCon 2025 - June 12th-15th at Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana (Again)

Did they show off more unproduced BotCon/TFCC concepts? I want them to keep doing that every year. Somehow.
Maybe I’ll just throw everything in a Dropbox folder and put the link here! It’s been almost 10 years now and they are just sitting around collecting figurative dust.

No idea what has been shown, what hasn’t been shown. But yeah, I’ll get with Jesse, make a folder, and put everything we can find in there.

At long last, I have finished typing up the full story of how and why Ladybug was renamed to Cliffjumper, along with some coverage of the new pack-in comics and script reading. All is revealed here:

The lessons here are about people rushing to create pages too quickly and the inflexible use of language from some people wanting to categorize everything.

Honestly I don't blame whatever Hasbro lawyer saw this. They were doing their job.

The real shame of it is that I was excited to see someone finally make "red Bumblebee" her own thing.

I added to the report a link to a 5-page advertisement for the Cliffjumper toy and comic that was published in the convention's program guide:

Nice haul! I'm suddenly nostalgic for some Spychangers...

You gonna open that Shadow Striker/Roulette or leave it MIB? Bit of a shame either way since they look so good in both modes, and the package is so nice... both really nice color schemes I'd like to see used again.

It's actually not quite MIB. The box is pre-opened and pretty banged up, with Roulette only staying in place by a single plastic tie that's barely holding on to her. The two figures themselves are in good condition, at least, with Shadow Striker still firmly secured by all of her original plastic ties. But thanks to the subpar packaging condition, the seller had priced them lower than you normally see them go for MIB or MISB.

But yes, I do plan on both taking the figures out and keeping the box.

Heh, shortly after I posted this report late last night, it made the news:

Well, that is completely nuts.

Only visiting this thread after hearing about that to see if there was more (and boy, was there!), since I couldn't go.

Also saw these from upthread while catching up.

Revealed on BotCon's insta gram: the set of pins to collect for the 2025 convention!

I'll admit, they're might tempting, but using bumblebee and his various recolors would have been more on the mark given the exclusives.

Ahhhhh, those are neat. I particularly like the top-left, middle-center, and bottom-center ones.

What did the final one end up looking like?

Always good to get new fiction but it sucks that it was at the cost of 1984 "Red Bumblebee" getting an official unique name. :(

-ZacWilliam, not blaming anyone really. Hasbro's actions are pretty understandable, but maybe if someone had waited to make a page for her until the thing was actually finalized we could have had nice things...

You know what's really funny, though? In my report that I wrote on the wiki, I was using the nickname of "Lady Cliffjumper" to distinguish her from the other CJs that appear in the comic. I came up with that nickname entirely on my own, as a play on the fact that her name was originally going to be "Ladybug" and that she's a female Cliffjumper.

But this morning, I wake up to see this tweet from Jesse with the following revelation:
That Cybertronian text running vertically down the side of the picture? That says "Lady Cliffjumper"! 🤯

I completely forgot about the Cybertronian text printed on the boxes and never thought to check what they actually say! Holy snap!

If I had to summarize BotCon '25 in three photos, it would be these. Fans of all ages, each extremely excited to share their passion for the brand!

The meeting between Flint and Josh was not planned. I had walked Josh to his panel, but Flint and Michael Charles Hill's panel was still ongoing. Josh sat respectfully, soaking in what Flint had to say. Later, Flint sat in on Josh's panel and approached him to talk about Transformers, writing, and everything that went into the story.

Also, while Josh was waiting for Flint's panel to end, he sat behind a father and son. The son obviously instantly recognized Josh. The son kept turning, looking at him. But since Josh was watching the panel, the son didn't say anything. The panel ended eventually, and the son turned around to talk to Josh finally. I saw how much that moment meant to the boy and offered to take the photograph. The father happily agreed.

The middle image happened during the Transformers One panel. The father asked his question, but his young daughter had her own. We let them both ask questions, and Josh said how his heart was melting when the girl started her question.

This is all what I think BotCon is about. Us all celebrating why we love the brand and toys, but also that love is being passed down from generation to generation. It did everyone's heart some good seeing it this year!

So you don't have to translate...

Soundblaster's is Japanese. It says Destron Soundblaster
Glyph's is Cybertronian. It says Autobot Glyph
Cliffjumper's is Cybertronian. It says Lady Cliffjumper

Well, now I want to know what the daughter asked!
