Welp, I just came back from the comic store. I got the final zephyr heights storm, and the g5 1 shot... and it's once again the end of era.

It's not QUITE the end of the era, yet. We're still getting at least 4 more one shots in 2025.

"Rise of Cadence", "Skye's Secret", a New Years Story (which probably won't come out until March because IDW's gonna IDW), and a detective story.

So, there is still a LITTLE more G5 coming in 2025. We don't know how much, but it's not over yet!

Have some Tinier Pipp! Not as Tiny as the Tiniest of Pipps, but Tinier than the standard-smol-sized Pipp!

In other words, Tell Your Tale was planning on making "filly" versions of our cast (CMC age), to add to the "baby" versions we've already had a few times. You even get a slide with all three sizes with Misty. It's pretty cute!

Also, a horrifying talking book with huge lips. But, hey, they can't all be winners.

This stuff is great, but I hope some more A New Generation development materials get released too.

I want to know the name of the hero who decided to make Pipp so short in the first place.

News! Not...amazing news. But, still news!

Hasbro claims that 2026 will be the "Year of the Pony"! And that 2027 will feature a "total brand reinvention" with a new look, "tons" of new content, and "innovative products"!

Those are the BEST kind of products!

Yeah, this is just kind of a bunch of marketing speak that doesn't actually mean much. But, at least Hasbro is TRYING to come up with something. And it sounds like we'll probably be getting G6 or some sort of new show by 2027.

I am kind of curious what "The Year of the Pony" actually means. It might just be them re-releasing old stuff for an anniversary. Maybe a few youtube videos? Maybe we'll get some of the stuff China's been getting? Who knows.

2026 is a Chinese Year of the Horse. There's no way Hasbro isn't going to do something big for that. Even if G6/whatever doesn't come until 2027, they're going to be milking the hype train all year.

So I just finished my pile of pony comics. There's still a couple of specials left, but they're all seemingly random collections of individual comics... so I don't think I'll be grabbing them. The storm of zephyr heights was a damn fine way to end the series though: everyone got to shine, they learned about their own lost history. Yeah, it was fun.

Hate that it's over... again. But it was fun while it lasted.

I wonder if IDW is still hoping for a comeback, and the purpose of these collections is just to hang on to the license in the meantime while spending no money.

Year of the Horse can't come soon enough. This is the worst hiatus ever.

I think IDW has been pretty silent about what's going on with MLP. They really haven't commented on it on way or another. Which could mean that they're losing the license. Or it could mean they're waiting to be a part of big relaunch that Hasbro has planned. It's impossible to say for sure until someone finally says something.

For what it's worth, there are no MLP comics in IDW's September solicitations. Not even reprints. Which makes me sad.
But, they also don't have any Sonic that month, either. So, it might just be a off month for IDW. They had 3 reprint collections solicited for August, for comparison. Although, they were all G4 comics, which might say something. (Other than, y'know, there being 5 times as many G4 comics compared to G5.)

Maybe we'll get some news at San Diego Comic Con? (July 23-27). Companies do like to announce things there. I don't know if we should count on that. But, it's not impossible.

But, at least we still have Wild Manes! Good ol' Wild Manes is keeping the board alive! At least...for a little while. Supposedly, they only made 40 episodes, and we're currently on episode 34. So...we might only have 6 more episodes of Wild Manes, too. Then the drought will get REALLY bad. But, that's 3 or more months away. That's tomorrow's problem.

But, yeah, we do desperately need more pony. As goes pony, so goes the world! We all know what happened after G4 ended in 2019! Then G5 ended in 2024, and look what happened right after that! Hasbro, you have a moral duty to give us more quality pony content. Or else the world shall fall to DOOM! On your heads rest the fate of the world! We are currently at the lowest pony-levels in decades! Only PONY can save us now!
