I hate recasting. And this one seems to have been for no good reason at all.

Since it is done, I hope that this tiny cameo was just to establish him to be used somehow later.

I'm sitting here thinking about it and I'm a little confused on some timeline. We are at 3 BBY and Bail is still the Senator. In 0 BBY, Leia will be, but Bail is still alive as of a couple days before Yavin. I guess I have always assumed that he died when Alderaan was destroyed, but his appearance in Rogue One (which I loved for itself) is a little confusing storywise. Mon Mothma totally outed herself to go be the leader of the Rebellion. Why did Bail step down from the Senate? Unless Leia primaried him! He can't out himself to go live on Yavin, because then Leia probably can't stay in the Senate either. It would have been simpler to have just said Bail died around now and then there would have been no temptation to recast him.

I mean, maybe we'll get the answer in the next couple of weeks, but unless something really compelling happens, I'm feeling sour about bringing in a new actor for a character that didn't need to appear.

I have no idea what that means, but I certainly noticed that the Ghorman Front is the WW2 French Resistance.

You can go at any slower pace that you choose.

It might get more successful when it actually starts.

Going slower means you have to be wary of spoilers, and can't engage in discussion until caught up. It being batched reduces its footprint in public consciousness, cuts down on theories and people guessing on what's going to happen. Also ruins the flow of real world "water cooler" talk.

Krennic will eventually get what he wanted to get, but the hard way. He's going to find out that Dedra made his bomb out of pinball parts and kept the plutonium for herself.

The made it in 4 3-episode arcs just like last time and this time this is how they wanted to do it. I don't have any inside information, but one possibility is that they can see that the pacing doesn't work in individual episodes.

Aside from the obvious big event this week that most fans knew had to be this week, pretty much every expectation I had was wrong.

List of things I believed, expected, or hoped for:
- Appearance or name drop of Ghost Crew or The Ghost transporting Mon Mothma
- Luthen dying this week or next because we saw Andor had a different boss in Rogue One
- Bix dying this week or next because she isn't in the picture on Rogue One
- No K2SO until next week because there wouldn't be time in Ghorman story
- Saw being involved on Ghorman so all the characters would get to one place at the same time.
- Syril possibly defecting to the Rebels
- Dedra being hardened by Ghorman
- Seeing Mon Mothma's speech from Rebels

Gilroy subverted my expectations without betraying anything. It is a neat trick. He should write down the instructions and leave them when he goes.

(sarcasm) Bail's line to Mon Motham, "Next year in Yavin" is clearly a pro-Israel statement because it's a take off on the "Next year in Jerusalem" quote." (sarcasm)

Maybe they will feed us more next week, but I don't understand why Bail can't leave yet. What does he need to do in a Senate that is rubber-stamping the emperor?

Bail Organa is still a senior Senator, and still wielded a LOT of influence, despite the state of the politics. It doesn't make sense for MULTIPLE senior senators to drop off (and there was still another in the "rebel cadre" still in the Senate as well). If nothing else, given how clamped down the Senate was becoming, it would only get harder for Rebel sympathizers to get access to the workings of the Imperial government. Given Imperial propaganda, having an ear in the political arena was probably a better source of intel than anything else, at times. Even if he can't effect change, having that access and doing what little he could was still highly valuable.

Can he keep that access? When Mon Mothma denounced the emporer and fled and then took up the mantle of actively leading the Rebel Alliance? How is Bail Organa not under arrest? They were not secret friends.

Why arrest him when you can just blow up his planet?
Because you can't blow up his planet yet and he is probably sneaking around helping the Rebellion. Look at this situation and tell me how Bail Organa can not be helping the rival army that his great friend is leading? They have always publicly agreed about everything. They are always seen together publicly and privately. He helped her get the floor to make her denunciation speech. ISB even infiltrated the team he got to sneak her out after her speech. Maybe they aren't sure that team was working for him? Is he going to quit saying all the non-party-line stuff he's been saying for 18 years?
