Chris Latta didn't actually sound like that in real life. He was putting on a (silly) voice. Wheeljack and Sparkplug were closer to how he actually sounded. Heck, Latta even did a fill-in voice for Optimus once (and, dare I say, he sounded quite good, acting-wise):

I said this in the other thread, but now, in light of what happened, I kind of don't want to go see the anniversary screening anymore. Even if it's over a week away from now, watching that particular scene so early into the movie, and on the big screen, will still feel too soon.

I just don't feel like going to watch the tragic, funeral-like death scene of arguably Peter Cullen's most defining role, surrounded by his friends crying their eyes out as he turns to gray, and punctuated by grim "death march"-like percussion... blown up to giant-size on the big screen. And so...

Kind of the screening too since it's a film where Cullen's most famous role is given a death scene within the first 20 minutes of the movie. It's making me actually not want to go see it next month, frankly.

This news has suddenly made next month's anniversary screening of TFTM in very poor taste. :(

One of my favorite roles of his is also what I believe was the first role of his I ever saw: the hotel concierge in Home Alone 2. Of the Home Alone movies, I always say, "The first one is the best, but the second one has Tim Curry."

Because Bandai of Japan isn't doing anything with it either. ;)

It's funny that this thread got bumped when it did, as I recently just got myself a VPN that allows me to finally watch the Wild King W episodes, and so I just binge-watched all five episodes released thus far. And having just watched them, Spinoescudo is introduced at the end of Episode 5 and...

I just realized that Spinoescudo having both halves of his dino head on his shoulders is reminiscent of AOE Grimlock.

It's more like convergent evolution (or "great minds think alike"), as the color white is associated with death, undead, reincarnation, etc. in Japan.

Except my little experiment with rewriting the movie was about how to make it even more tragic (within reason, of course, as I avoided killing off Daniel or Wheelie, who would have been obvious targets by the 90s ATT crowd), not to fix it. 😛 But seriously, I dare y'all to give that second...
