Kinda like Cyberverse's Megatron X scenario, only with Optimus instead of Megatron.
Or the Justice League cartoon's "Brave New World" in which the League became the Justice Lords.
"Megatron has tripped! I, Starscream, am now the new leader of the Decepticons!"
"Megatron has stubbed his toe! I, Starscream, am now the new leader of the Decepticons!"
"Megatron has a cold! I, Starscream, am now the new leader of the Decepticons!"
"Megatron has a sore throat! I, Starscream...
Ha! And there we have it: A character said something so memorable one time that it became such a meme that led many to believe it was something said multiple times over. Just imagine if this phenomenon really did inspire the Binder writers to have Megatron name himself after The Fallen just...
I should also point out that, according to Aaron Archer, the art of the Thirteenth was deliberately made faceless so as to lean into that original intended ambiguity of his identity.

(Same with many other shows that bring back older plot points much later on, like The...
I'm still a little baffled that Hasbro rereleased the Takara versions of the Decepticon Clones in the west but didn't rerelease either version of the Autobot Clones.
