Yeah, I've been all-in on Wildking from the start, so I've gotten all the recolors so far. But, early on I was assuming that this would be a pretty small line. If it keeps going (and I hope it does!) I may very well scale back to only getting new molds / remolds unless the recolors are...
And that's what makes it especially memorable for kids that did spend 2 years watching him be Robot Dad. There's something about seeing a gentle, jovial, but strong person suddenly get serious that gives anyone that sees it a "jive just got real" feeling. "When a good man goes to war" and all...
recolor Hydrophant is nice, but I'm always glad to see a new type of dinosaur represented. Pachycephalosaurs aren't new to Transformers, but you can also never have too many!
Two things:
1) It would have been so simple to have "Ultra" be the title. Not only does it makes sense as he is the ultimate authority, but then the name his mother gave him could have been Magnus, a perfectly serviceable name.
2) It's more world-building than necessary for a show that's...
I liked the way that Animated used "Prime." While non-traditional, it let them do exactly what you described, have a young, inexperienced Optimus while still using the Marketing Department mandated name for him. It absolutely makes sense as a title for a crew chief.
What DIDN'T make sense...
It's a bit of a missed opportunity, really. The way that the Scramble City leaders all had base modes that could connect to Metroplex was a really cool feature.
The one thing that might make me buy a KO of SS Megatron would be if they made it slightly undersized so that he ends up a tallish Voyager class so that he'd fit in with the standard Earthrise / Siege / Generations / What-have-you figures. I have SS Megatron, and he's a great toy, but I keep...
At work, we still have one working land line that's in place for the fax (which itself BARELY remains relevant). I'm tempted to bring it in and plug it in just to experience talking via Enterprise. Given the extreme awkwardness of the design, I have to image that it is terrible in it's...
It sold out, so I guess there were plenty of people willing to pay that. I wouldn't be opposed to getting Grave Digger, but I don't $58 need it. It's firmly in the "pick it up if I see it half off somewhere" bucket.
YOU CAN SEE IT TOO?!?! I've always been the only one!
No, that's the entryway hall, those are coats hanging on hooks down the hallway. Picture is from Christmas of '86, so you need some good coats for the Illinois winter.
I ordered Grimlock because he is the only Dinobot that I've never had a copy of the G1 toy. I had Sludge and Snarl as a wee lad (see photo evidence below) and have picked up Slag and Swoop out in the wild at flee markets or similar (though neither in great condition). Grimlock, though, has...
In real life, the gap will be more obvious, but I think everything is there. the door and red stripe are stationary, the forearm swivels out from the door on that pin. The red stripe will limit the arm to 90 degrees of movement.
I also have never read a comic that they're in, so have no connection to the character, but there is no force on earth that can stop me from buying a Transformer that turns into a van with wizards and barbarians airbrushed onto the side. That just calls to me.
