Frankly, even at the time, it was clear that Aligned having One True Story or whatever was an interesting idea, but in practice would always be a fool's errand given the sheer spread of the brand's story and product arms, and the lack of incentive or reason for Hasbro to allow anyone to set and...
That memory dump of such a fun era was a trip. Thanks to all of you who played a role in getting it together. Some of those are particularly cool, and it's just gratifying to see so many UT-era concepts and molds again. There really was an energy and ethos that's just missing from the brand...
I recently used Mrs. Doubtfire as an example in a lecture and the kids just looked at me blankly. When I tell you I crumbled into dust and blew away right then...
Anyway.
I'd absolutely love a Grandus. This might make me go back on my "not buying any more Titans" rule.
Actually, maybe make it...
I was this close to typing "but Scourge has a new hat!", and froze when I found myself actually entertaining the idea of buying a Scourge that had just such a hat.
This is indeed gorgeous (I especially like how different the face shape turned out), but I think it was this one by GXE18 that caught my eye:
Which may still not be QUITE Unite Warriors, but the bluish tint and lighter clear orange made me think of that.
Either way, yeah, I think Hasbro's...
I like T30 Roadbuster well enough except for the clown slippers. The head could stand to be more G1-y (idk if the changes are part of distancing it from Dorvack or whatever) but it isn't a bad sculpt in my eyes.
It's certainly closer than the toy-style Selects one, but I'd probably consider...
So much goes into a Pretender shell. Almost to the point that holding the robot inside is the least of its worries (basically "have a big enough cavity"). It'll need to have enough heft/thickness in parts to stand well while carrying a folded-up chunk in it. It'll need to be interesting enough...
Eh, I'm sure they can do a solid new take that doesn't need to hew too closely to it. The T30 effort was decent and could do with some refining, and they've put out some good looking bruiser builds since. Maybe it could even work using the Gamer Edition/Fractured Friendship Optimus engineering...
The side by sides I've seen do show that this captures the sheer width and mass of that character. With better proportions for the lower body too. So that helps. (But, again, already fine with the current/existing Breakdown...)
I have a strange fondness and affinity for the original that makes it the only "right" looking thing in my eyes, flaws and all. The new one looks great in isolation (if a bit weedy) and seems to pose like a dream, but put them side by side and it's no contest. Limited articulation and kind of...
I kinda dig it but I'm waiting for a character that looks better wearing it. So far for Bulkhead and Breakdown I prefer the originals. I'd try to repurpose the Breakdown (if only to justify the cost of the 2-pack; mainly getting it for Windsweeper and friends) but no ideas there.
