    Star Trek General Discussion

Was that in Riverside? We stopped there last night, Trekfest was already done, but the 3-year-old wanted to play in the park, and they have a really nice one (right next to the Kirk statue). Had to laugh, they have that soft rubber play surface with a huge Starfleet emblem decoration in the...

They kinda did? But, yeah, that would feel like an appropriate series to slot Tonkanator in. The world needs more RiD '01 universe updates to exist in it.

The toy and packaging variation oddity, mystery and discovery thread

...And knowing is half the Battle! ...sorry, I had to do it. Thank you for these insightful articles, though!

For me, the price is the biggest hurdle, so CW Devvy wouldn't solve that. Knowing how fragile G1 Devvy is doesn't help, either, so there is that, but the price makes it a non-starter for me.

    Transformers Legacy toyline

I mean, it doesn't hurt to be cautiously optimistic, and the current TF team is certainly not lazy. Past experience with Hasbro's prior efforts when they homage Gobots, though, is pretty minimal. Heck, even Bandai relegated Machine Robo to candy toys for many years (and the current offering, in...

Just realizing, I think I still have the yellow and black Constructicon knockoffs that were sold at Shopko all those years ago. Slap some stickers in the appropriate places and I can make my own Tokanator!

Random Thoughts From Out of Nowhere

That Batman totally reads to me as the Keaton costume. Considering the focus of the movie is the Super Pets, I kind of wonder how much screen time the humans will get?

    Transformers Legacy toyline

It's kind of a hard call, because 'the rules' seem to have changed over the years. Fracture was one of 3 Walmart exclusives all those years ago, and all were just straight redecos. The Speedia 500 collection has, what, 2 new molds (Cosmos and Override), 3 redecos with alternate pre-tool heads...

    Transformers Legacy toyline

Drag Strip and Fracture were both redecos of the Classics Mirage mold once, so it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch. And, of recent molds that turn into race cars, Drag Strip is one possibility. Not saying I'm advocating for it, just throwing out possible ideas for what we might get. If...

I guess there is an assumption that Velocitron Crasher is a reference to Gobot Crasher. Might be something else entirely. Trying to remember if there was a Crasher in the Wreckers mini... EDIT: So, a quick check of the wiki shows that all but Cosmos from the Velocitron series appeared in the...

The fragility is the biggest detractor, for sure. Tonka trucks are tough, sturdy toys. The G1 constructicons...are not.

    Transformers Legacy toyline

I think the deal with any of the Gobots is that Hasbro owns the names, but Bandai owns the original figure designs. So, whatever we get won't look super-close to the original toy. That said, I wonder if we don't get a redeco of Knockout for one of the two?

I'd cancel my S7 Tarn if there was a Nickel in the Core list... Also happy for the Core Dinos; besides Ninja Consultants, Dinobots are the other thing sorely missing from my Gobotron/Cybertron city.

If they had the guts to use legacy Gobots names for some of them, it would go from a 'that's neat' to a 'must buy'. As is, it's neat, but not $130 neat. Bonecrusher-> Dozer, Long Haul-> Dumper, Hook-> Crane Brain, Mixmaster->Block Head. Only Scrapper and Scavenger don't have direct...

Buzzworthy Bumblebee - the "everything goes" toyline

I mean, the names Cliffbee, Bumblejumper, and Bumper are right there. Probably wouldn't take much for Hasbro to lay claim to them. The only issue is, fan speculation is that the VW license only allows for Bumblebee figures (which is, the theory goes, part of the reason Glyph hasn't appeared as a...
