Galvatron's arm cannon also moves from front to side and from bicep to forearm as the scene requires. And sometimes has a trigger he has to pull, or sometimes he can fire it without one. I guess sometimes even his own cannon knows better than to refuse his crazy.
The axe has the bonus of being wielded by the Big Good of the series, though. (Of course, we also tend to ignore that he lost the one fight where he used it.....)
There's also the cartoon (and franchise as a whole) tending to play fast and loose with scale anyway. Close enough is about the best we can really expect in many cases.
The ladder is way too heavy to actually pose the arm unsupported, the sheer weight will just pull it right off the pegs. But the pegs and holes line up perfectly, and neither are used in any other mode, so it's clearly intentional. Maybe I can use parts of Blue Bolts to make a support arm.
For having to get the cartoon model into a tank, it's pretty good. I like how the treads all but disappear into the legs and emulate the grip pattern. Tank mode is fine, functional but not terribly impressive, but who's buying it for that anyway?
