I rather like that Boltax and Xaaron weren't in the Thirteen. We should have more standalone characters from various time periods playing various roles, and not everyone has to get dragged into that. The history and lore are more alive when it isn't all reduced down to coming from the same...
There's stuff about it that doesn't work all that well for me (mainly the fully cylindrical neck), but there's stuff that I really appreciate, especially given what it manages to do with a pretty set, finished design. I respect the thought and effort put into it. Clever stuff.
Tried one of the cheaper alternate heads I've seen on some online storefronts (I've been meaning to get a Terminus head but it's like twice the price of this one). This Movie Trilogy/Movie Advanced Wheeljack-based head comes in black or silver, and I tried the latter so it wouldn't stick out so...
The AOE Dinobots are very cool, but I don't think they're all Titan class prices cool. Grimlock I can see having that kind of appeal, and maybe the last to release will get some of that "completing the set" hype bump, but they're not collectively memorable enough to command that kind of price...
That's what it is to me, too, and thus safe to ignore. I don't like the diseased greebling OR the shade of purple on the original, but right now not enough to basically rebuy it.
I do wish the retooling had gone to... Something in the height department instead of the weird "let's homage...
I see what you mean, but I stand by this. The main point is that in this decade this sort of thing is not insurmountable or as much work as it once was for some of us.
I speak mainly from the perspective of someone in the Philippines trying to get stuff that's exclusive to US Target, Walmart...
Exclusives are annoying and more work than mass retail. This is absolutely true. But (1) I can see why the brand does them, and (2) in the 2020s, access to this sort of stuff is not as difficult as it was 10-15 years ago.
I stayed away from that in general because anything adding on to the default splayed-out wing segment base was a lost cause that would always look wrong (even DNA's end up looking decent only when they're all straight down, because they obscure the fact that their bases are very much not...
They had them up to at least wave 4 (the regular-chase case I got has a group shot, and I think the super chase boxes have a card for Rodimus or Grimlock).
Edit: from Reddit:
I haven't seen pics or mention of any for series 5 on.
That's not much of a downside; that's barely an inconvenience. Chuck them into an accessory box like most of the accessories that also can't be stored in/on the figure these days. Still rather have them than not have them.
Alternate heads have been one of my most requested things for some...
It's also unfortunate that despite the extra bits being part of the budget originally, the Dramatic Capture version doesnt include his tender caboose. Screen accuracy!
Then again, not like I have the storage space...
