It really is a fascinating depiction of how the design approach went in (and probably had to go in) the opposite direction from the previous releases. Those had existing transformation schemes and the game was just in fitting more joints into existing shapes, while this one had to have a...
It's 2026, and Takara Tomy woke up and said LFG. In a slew of their usual darkened monochromatic announcement teases, they've kicked off the year in style!
First, the Missing Link series gets a fitting infusion of dinosaur strength as Grimlock is teased for the lineup.
Next, a "New Product...
That is a really neat lightbox thingy. The collapsible one I used over December is nice and all but it tends to be floppy because of all the folding (and thin panels).
I did fret a bit over which to get because while I wanted both, the other would have to wait a WHILE if I got it at all. But in the end the decision felt surprisingly easy, and I got the prototype colors. I say surprisingly because there was a point where it felt like I'd be waffling up until...
I think that's exactly what people are pointing out. They like it on the latter level (which I interpret as "alternate direction for Masterpiece", which was my first thought when this was officially revealed and priced in the MP range), but feel it doesn't quite land the former. The trouble is...
Hm. I forget if mine had the same fist hole/weapon peg problem, but I agree about the other issue. I was annoyed at how everything seemed to clash with everything else just getting him from mode to mode. Looks great, transformation is wack, unless there's a trick or specific sequence to it I...
To be clear, I never assumed that either (tbh I never even put the two together despite the obvious elements of Megs' design, so I guess I was exactly the target audience) and didn't intend to suggest that.
Plenty, I'm sure. I'm reminded of that one Headmasters cover with an interestingly red and gray Fort Max. And the "Man of Iron" colors on Megs is in this thread too.
Could do a whole trilogy of lines for just Block Colored characters maybe.
But there are enough legit variations (Hot Rod...
Thanks! I think I used up all my skill points on that Longtooth, with some left over for Iguanus. I was very surprised that they turned out that good. Finback and Waverider are proof that I can't do things symmetrically to save my life, lol. And Pincher was mainly picked because of how feasible...
(Light)boxing day, eh...
It's been a fairly calm and sobering couple of weeks, with some surprising zen in the midst of the scramble to set up and settle a deal and clear things out. Totally unexpectedly, things actually worked out and I found places that would take (most of) the old customs I...
Thanks for this thread, tec!
I am rubbish at ranking, but I can definitely think of at least ten noteworthy Transformers for the year.
AOTP Excellion
Wild King Abyss Rain (really all of Wild King, what an absolute charmer of a toyline)
Studio Series KSI Widow
Collaborative Bone Shaker
AOTP...
I think I got it to fit but it was scary tight to even try to turn it. But I do remember also hearing from some that had an easier and some that had a more difficult time, so there's some variation there.
The new Titan class is a better fit for Metroplex and Omega Supreme (and I'd argue Trypticon, to go with Metro). I remember being tempted to sell T30 Metro and just get whatever 3P one it was at the time that was half the height and much chonkier. Never got around to that.
(Soundwave, jam along with that transmission!)
And good, because the recent memery about it notwithstanding, I've never had a problem with that song. (I get the reaction to things being overplayed, but I'm also aware that a huge chunk of this stuff tends to just be joining a crowd chant because...
