Well, that would make it box-art-accurate. A win-win scenario would be if they gave it a retractable mouthplate a la Cybertron Optimus. I always headcanon'd that Machine Wars Optimus had one so as to explain the discrepancy between the mouthplated box art and the mouthplate-less toy.

Yeah, it was definitely a Thunder Clash homage, right down to the wing design on the top of the cab. He's also more "gray Optimus" than "blue Optimus": Come to think of it, Thunder Clash wasn't dull gray, but Machine Wars Optimus was, so it's a dual-homage deco to both.
