But why did they name him "Soundwave" of all things?
It would have been understandible if they named him "Shockwave" since "Shockblast" was just a trademark-friendly stand-in for "Shockwave" at the time, and Shockblast's Japanese name was "Laserwave", the same Japanese name as G1 Shockwave, and...
Instead of a Hot Rod redeco, Nemesis Star Convoy comes with a redeco of Core class Shockwave in the colors of Energon Shockblast, but named... "Soundwave"? Huh?!!
I feel like the original plan was to treat those toys as living robot characters all along, since the Microman Micro Change toys were scooped up by Hasbro at the same time as the Diaclone Car Robot toys, and the Micro Change toys don't look like piloted mechs like the Car Robots do.
