I don't believe so, but some have been repaints and remolds of existing TF molds. I'd think at the very least, they could reuse the engineering and some parts for Soundwave, who was a different kind of van, anyway.

Totally agree, though I'm inclined to think the directive would have come from somewhere higher up the chain.

I was so, so tempted to get into that, but I was like "No, no, show some restraint..." Like, the main thing was to say that the game would run and not break your console or anything, not that the game was necessarily any good... But it felt like an apt comparison.

I'm leaning towards real. If it were fake, they'd probably know to give Green Ranger the Dragon Dagger instead of a pair of Blade Blasters.

Yeah, I think Legacy G1 OP would have been a much better play here. Fills the size and Optimus boxes, plus being a recreation of one of the OGs, just feels like a natural starting point. Not to mention having a complete array of accessories at retail and an already solid look at retail.

During one of the more recent-ish Hasbro Pulse streams, I believe that someone from the Transformers team teased us with the possibility of doing releases of Transformers figures that resembled the prototypes shown off at toy shows. Or at least, I think they did. I can't find it, so we're not...
