Seeing how the main cast transform off-screen like 90% of the time, the CSI dudes not being far off from the average movie robots and mostly being reused models, the transformium crap was most likely just a way to cheap out on the animation budget. The designs weren’t any more impossible than...
Even the pretenders did stuff with the arms and legs, even if it was just to fold them to the sides of the resulting vehicle. That’s how low the standards were at the time and the Monstructor components don’t even reach that level.
They’re so crap that the plastics used in creating them gained...
Most of them have a single panel that swaps their heads out, making all three of their modes basically the same exact thing. Being even simpler than a Micromaster is not anything commendable.
Tarn looks great. No obvious corner-cutting and looks about as good as the 3P ones at around a third of the cost.
Glad i sold off my MMC Tarn before the value tanked
TBH, they might not bother with Monstructor since if they're keeping the dinosaur altmodes, this may be specifically intended as Dinoking to capitalize off Victory Saber.
Of course, Core class means that Dinoking will reach Victory Saber's knee if he's lucky so IDK
Even with how bad Sludge’s flank-legs are, there’s no way this gets close to the almost parodic lack-of-hugs of the g1 toys. The g1 Monstructor parts are so low-effort that 4/6 of them don’t even bother outside flipping heads and the last two swipe the standard micromaster transformation.
Tarn and the Mad Max truck guy are my picks. Maybe Hot Shot if they end up doing more Armada. Could be persuaded by good deluxe insecticons if them on the poster is more than an easter egg.
The thigh are bad but how the crotchplates work is just hackery. The super mode waist already looks like a diaper but it’s even worse that instead of covering it with the godbomber crotchplate or rotating the waist and attaching it to what was the butt or even just partsforming with how much is...
I had a knockoff of the Battle Tanker kit that I bought with the intention to make Laser Magnus. It used a 5 mm peg for the hitch ao it might work as thetrailer/base. Just gotta dig it up.
Yeah, out of those, only the DNA kit actually fixes any actual issues with the toy, though all the extraneous crap I’d end up paying for is not appealing. The stock hands look terrible, being basically C-shaped plastic bits. The first kit’s just fluff and while I like the kneepads on the second...
The feet, thighs, kneeflaps and waist except for the central crotch area are all reused from Earthrise. The shins themselves are newly sculpted parts but shaped exactly like the Earthrise ones. New thighs would be okay but the only things I'd really want from an upgrade kit is new hands and some...
