I can replicate the italics issue. Tapping the italics button a second time does exactly what you show. Weird. But if I type normally and then highlight the word and then hit the italics button, it works. It's not fun to do...
The press pack is right. 'Charming' is exactly the right word for this special. The animation style is immediately lovable.

I've always hated the Classics/ER torso. It's boxy without even having the dignity of being a complete box. It's just the front and back panels of a box. No depth.
There's also too many channels for network TV to get brand saturation like you could in the 80s and 90s either. Hasbro doesn't have a lot of options here. At least they're trying to adapt.
