Yeah, the issue here is they went pure nostalgia, so he has to look like 1984 toon megatron and turn into a 1983 HISS Tank toy. Had they made the character model from scratch for this specific altmode, it likely would have been better integrated.

They probably want to wrap things quickly enough so there's still time to get the trades out before their license expires.

IDW reprinted the old Marvel comics, so maybe whoever gets the license next will finish off the IDW hardcovers. It's a longshot though, IDW didn't do big collections of any of the Dreamwave stuff.
