Fun nets? Bath bombs? Fishing equipment?! Why do all these things have the Transformers license on them?!
Because it makes money, of course.
We touched on some of these goods previously, but that was only the tip of the iceberg! Join former Transformers Creative Manager Rik Alvarez once again...
What do you get when you cross a Trans Am, a jet engine, and a… microcasette recorder (plus a whole load of other stuff)?
You get Soundwave as the Dreadnok Thunder Machine in the newest Transformers Collaborative G.I. Joe x Transformers offering, of course!
We’ve talked about it in this space...
That... might have been part of my notion at the time?
I mean, I just thought that Megatron would become Galvatron somehow, and having G1 Galvatron there and them fighting seemed like a way to do it.
Imagine my surprise when he never became Galvatron at all.
Be careful on that one. There was a Wii/360 game from Activision back then that was basically that style of game based on this iteration, and it was hot garbage.
Here's a good review of it I managed to find:
And if you collect Nintendo Force magazine, I reviewed it there back when it came out.
You two got it!
I mean, then names are very phonetically similar.
None that I'm aware of. Maybe when Battle Network was hot there was something, but even then, I don't remember anything substantial beyond "Aww, don't tell me they're going to start making TWO versions of every game now!"
Even in as far as the similarities go, T30 Metroplex was a bit TOO sprawled out; sideways knee bends let the original keep at least somewhat condensed in city mode.
With TR Fort Max, it's impossible to separate Cerebros without a mode looking like it's missing something, which kind of kills the...
Heh, whoops.
But yeah, we'll see. My luck, either they sell it before I can get to it, or worse.
We'll see.
Oh, and thanks for finding it for me! With any luck, that won't have been in vain.
FWIW, I'd gladly settle for a new Fort or Brave Max that manages to be at least as good as the original.
That includes -- nay, necessitates the city mode being comparable. And I feel the TR one was very much not.
I'm still disappointed they didn't have Megatron take Galvatron's power by killing him and becoming a Galvatron himself. Especially with the way the lighting kinda makes it look in some of these shots.
