It *does* kinda make me wonder what the hell Hasbro was doing that Unicron had to be kickstarted but a smaller, boutique company can charge $50 less AND pay a licensing fee and still make it work at online retail.
A non-parts forming ER Ironhide with Siege-esque square chest would be ideal.
Toss in some extra accessories (shuttle pistols, maybe some effect hands, damaged chest, etc) to bump up to Voyager price and I’d buy it.
I just don’t see 2021 Hasbro doing a non-repeatable Combing gimmick on Menasor of all people. Devastator can get away with that for a variety of reasons (that’s how it was before, six members, relative popularity, etc) but a single combining gimmick for Menasor then they have to come up with...
“Hooking up vehicles to an exoskeleton” can actually work for the great majority of G1 Combiners with the notable exceptions of Devastator and probably Raiden.
You could probably even remold the Motormaster trailer enough to work for Hot Spot and Onslaught since they’re large trucks anyway.
To be fair, many of us are going to have to wait for the inevitable repack in the new line since stores (even in normal times) NEVER get in last wave stuff so the only way to get one is to preorder ahead of time which Hasbro has explicitly disallowed in this case.
so….
What the fandom wants and what the franchise needs are often diametrically opposed.
Joe needs a Beast Wars or 2021 MOTU level reimagining but the fandom wants $230 Haslab Skystrikers and Hasbro would rather keep pumping the captive market until they physically can’t which is still likely...
It’s bullshit that (for example) G1 Shockwave gets to be noseless and grandfathered into the G1 aesthetic because “that’s how he looked before!” but the same courtesy is not extended to the Prime characters.
The body construction is definitely enough. No nose isn’t suddenly going to make them...
Given Menasor’s appearance in the cartoon and Motormaster’s whole ass trailer; he is uniquely able to pull something like that off.
You can’t get away with that with the others though.
They don’t even make sure figures are transformed correctly for back of the card photography before they print 10,000 for distribution to stores.
They sure as hell aren’t going to photoshop pictures like that.
I don’t have the money to spend on a Black/Gold Zord Ascension Megazord anyway but VERY disappointed Hasbro is jumping on the planet destroying scam that are NFTs
